I think w/ the emphasis on 2 TEs, he'll get about the same number of snaps as last year and for the same reasons (3rd and long, Kupp or Woods gets nicked up for a play or 3). If he gets more than that we'll have had a catastrophe and the season is gone. As FLV mentioned he's talented matchup for the 3rd or 4th DB. If he was matched up against the first or second option, he'd disappear for long stretches.

I think we'll learn how much faith the Rams brass has in Reynolds on draft day. If they bypass WR's before Round 5, it will be a big vote of confidence in Reynolds and will be rather telling, as would an extension. Personally, I wouldn't forecast this due to the talent available in this class, but I think we will have a much clearer picture of their plans for Josh after the draft.

I have a hard time thinking they wait that long, I'd like them to grab a WR in the second or third round. With how deep the class is you can get a guy that would normally be taken in the first round. We can let Reynolds start, and the draft pick increase starting time. If Reynolds gets a big offer then he goes, sucks to see him go, but it's part of the game.. We already drafted the replacement, that's how you keep the cap down.

If he improves his catching ability he’ll be really good. Drops too many and has trouble contesting which is what a big guy like him needs to be good at. But he’s obviously shown some great flashes. Just needs consistency. Hit those jugs.

As for the quandary of what we do if he has a great year and deserves a big contract. Well, that’d be wonderful. At the very least, we’d have a great offensive piece this year and get a third round pick out of it the next year. Its better than him sucking and then we get nothing when he leaves.

Jet sweep is a run not a pass.
ESPN stat? Kind of a douchey thing to say, and your response saddens me that you kind of don’t understand football.
No, Reynolds catch % is atrocious.
As posted previously, compared to receivers, it’s way out.
Woods- 66%
Cooks- 60%
Kupp- 67%
Higbee- 66% (Didn’t back out 2016 would be higher)
Everett- 61%
Reynolds? 50% catch rate. 120 Targets is a pretty fair amount.
Can’t blame Fisher.
For the most part, he’s run safe routes also. Not go routes, or 50/50 balls.
Nope.
Try another excuse for him.

I'm not convinced that McVay will use 12P more and that he won't draft a WR early in the draft.

JRey is kind of average. Good YPC average and breaks some tackles. He could improve his catching ability and catch rate. If he has a good year he gets a chance at a good free-agent deal. It's good the Rams have a motivated WR to step in when needed. He gives McVay options as he knows the offense.

I like Reynolds and I've been a fan of his since we drafted him. Even though we'll lose him in FA I hope he really steps up this year and does some good things. I thought he looked good filling in for Kupp in 2018 and I like him as a red zone target along with Higbee.

Rams lost Cooper Kupp in 2018 & the 4th round 2017 selection steps into the void. In 2019 Rams lost #1 wide out Brandon Cook & once again it was Reynolds who stepped up. I would have thought that during both of those events it would have been 2017 top draft pick Gerald:( Everett.

Tell me who Mcvay quoted in a win against N.O.’s at home 2017 that helped them get into the playoffs because of a TD catch. Worked his way open. - yes, you guessed it.
Sammy I believe was hurt like he has been most of his career. That was before B.C.

Btw- that article was tough to read. I know I’m not easy to follow, but there is a lot of hope & questions. My take on Cooks is The Rams needed salary cap & there is value at WR late, plus Rhe Rams need a starting RB bad. This way with the extra pick McSnead can work the draft a little better.

You can’t be serious.
Are you aware that Reynolds has also had his fair share of jet sweeps?
I mean seriously, take a step back, look at the stats and you will see how dumb your argument is.
His catch rate is pathetic and significantly lower than every other receiver on the team.
Its not even close.
Woods is credited with 36 rushes in the last 2 years, Kupp 6, Cooks 16, Reynolds 7.
If there are rushing plays being considered completions, in addition to all these, how many do you seriously think are missed?
You like the guy, fine. But at least defend him with something plausible.
Take away 20% of catches as "misappropriated" and Woods is still is at 60%, Kupp 64%, Cooks 60% (BTW I had a typo and had said Cooks catch rate was 60% when it was 65%)
What the Rams need now with Cooks departure (and even during his time in LA) is a deep threat guy and/or a guy who can be counted on to make the contested catch. Reynolds hasnt shown he can fill either role.
We'll see what happens, all I'm saying is that I wouldnt be pencilling him in as the #3, far from it

I think it’s the opposite for the Rams the past two seasons. A high majority of the tosses/flips to the WRs and TEs have been backwards; and, therefore runs.

If we're likely to lose him in free agency then I'm even less inclined to want him to start this year. It's just like back in high school. As a coach, do you prioritize the senior or the freshman of similar talent?
