What? Why isn't he on the field training? Every second counts. This guy's not dedicated to the cause. Cut him.

.
It was after practice today that's why our coaches are doing their interviews today. A walk through then they fly out tomorrow.

And on D, The Fearsome Foursome, Pardee, Baughn, Meador, Cross...those were the days.

Guys were on the same team almost for life back then. You could build a team and not lose the experienced talent to FA.
Money aside, I sometimes think that it was better from a team building standpoint that way. If you built an O line for example, it stayed intact for years. And of course, teams could still just trade for what they needed, too. "Trader" George always traded younger guys for the more experienced players when he ran the show with Don Klosterman.

Today you can buy the talented pieces that you need to improve at a spot. Back before FA, you sometimes drafted for a certain position.
Now it's generally drafting the BPA.

I dunno.
I guess I go back and forth with this line of thinking.

Really good read, excellent memories and terrific point regarding consistency ... with no free agency, OL like Scibelli, Mack and Cowan all played more than thirteen years with the Rams.

Of course, the system was not fair to the players.

Just one (minor) comment. Klosterman came to the Rams with Rosenbloom. He and Allen did not over-lap.

If the Rams get off to a good start, McVay needs to keep at it with the offense unless it's mathematically impossible for the Bears to get back in the game. For example, being up 24-3 with 7 minutes left in the game I'm good with 3 runs, milking the clock and punting the ball out of bounds. Then the bend don't break defense should work just fine.
I don't know.
I'm thinking 38 to 10 with 1:47 to go.

Of course I was curious and had to look. Then owner Dan Reeves and the rest of upper management handled personnel issues.
Man, things have changed in that area of the game.
Side note: As a yute, I wrote a letter to Reeves and the team when he fired Allen the first time, expressing my displeasure about the firing. I couldn't believe that he did that to our Rams. The local LA radio station KMPC and local TV affiliates were all encouraging fans do this. That firing was really the talk of the town back then ...... even without the internet.

Watching Chris Long's podcast, he did point out that McVay has a 5-2 record vs Dennis Allen defenses, averaging nearly 28 pts per game. Says Allen relies on blitzes, which Stafford shreds.

This, to me, is the single best podcast for NFL games. Multiple guys who played in the league, and it’s not your typical QB/WR focus. I mean they talk about those guys, but they also talk about defensive and offensive line play a lot. Plus they are also some funny dudes.

Dotson has been far and away our best lineman all year and a criminal probowl snub. Hope he can go and near 100%.

(But Dedich should get his flowers, he's been a very good fill in off the bench.)

Once again the Ram defense must TACKLE WELL!!! Both Bear RBs, Swift & Monongai run well and catch out of the backfield. Swift is the slasher while Monongai is the power runner. They'll run those guys until the Ram defense shows they can stop them, trying to keep the Ram offense on the sideline.

Need to keep Williams in the pocket. Don't let him get outside of the pocket where he can make a big off schedule play. Verse & Young must be disciplined and have big games where they actually sack him. Limit the near misses.

Far and away? I don't want to take anything away from Dotson because he's a massive upgrade over Dedich, but you're selling both of our starting OTs short.

Both AJ and McClendon have had stellar seasons which rival Dotsons, IMO.

Let's not forget Fergie will also play Sunday which bolsters the offense even more. I expect a big day from Higbeast also.

I can't wait to see how McVay starts the offensive attack on Sunday. Pretty sure if the Rams win the toss he goes defense first.

All hands on deck for Rams offense except OT depth. Hopefully DAdams has knocked most of his rust off. Need TDs over FGs and the 3-headed TE Hydra to come hungry .
Light at CB for Rams defense with Spoon and DWill (?) out. Hopefully Lake has knocked more of his rust off. Need Verse/Turner to have stellar DL pass rush. Someone (Speights?) has gotta contain Williams.
