Wow I post a thing that says the Rams haven't don't something and youre in here looking for the meaning of life. Take a stat and enjoy it or not I guess.
Not life.... Just this weekends game. I'm just looking at everyone's incite (in this thread) on how or what could affect the game this weekend. Just thought there was something I wasn't seeing.

If you had posted this as a stand alone thread I would have passed over it.

I think you mean insight because incite is something altogether different.

Truthfully the D hasn't been as bad as some (and the media) have been pointing out. It has regressed, to be sure but.....

The D has allowed 30 points twice in the last 6 regular season games. 30 to Seattle and 34 to Detroit. They allowed 24 to Carolina, 20 to Arizona and Atlanta and 17 to Arizona. So yeah, against a couple of pretty good offenses, they allowed big numbers. They've averaged 24.1 PPG to close out the regular season but not the 28 PPG some are talking about. We've had 2 pick 6's (offense giving up pts) and a PR TD in the last 6 games.

So we allowed Carolina to score 31 in the Wild Card game, thanks to a blocked punt that gave them the ball at the Rams 30.

Either way we need to tighten up that D to advance further but it's not the huge gap some are portraying.

Rams pass Defense was #1 the first 8 weeks. Since week 8 it's ranked 31st.

Injuries have definitely played a major factor. However, every team has to deal with injuries, and for the most part we've only lost a couple of guys on Defense. The rams defensive coaching has to do better.

Wow

I didn't think it was that bad (31st) YIKES..... Maybe I'm looking at the D through the wrong lens, but I felt the offense at times put the defense in some compromising positions by not putting teams away.

The defense is definitely structured in a weird way. Our front 7 is pretty stout against the run which is great but we don't really have answers when it comes to teams playing max protect with long developing plays. Our Defensive linemen are almost all road graders and will truck Offensive linemen but that takes time, and if they max protect we don't have those quick twitch dudes that can get to the QB in a hurry which creates major issues with our LB's who are pretty bad in coverage.

I don't blame our DB's as much as others do. Shula likes to call Cover 3 / Cover 4 / Cover 6 concepts, and occasionally will sprinkle in man coverage. Problem is teams have zeroed in on this and are doing exactly what we saw the panthers do. Max protect running zone beaters. Zone defenders...Our DB's can only hold up so long before the opposing teams hits a dead spot in the zone coverage.

I've been a pretty big proponent of getting someone better than Shula on defense when it comes to game planning. Is he a good position coach? Yes, very much so. But I think he leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to game planning and not being so predictable.

Great response:

I'm not a stats guy when it comes to football: So when a post (like yours) is presented in the way that a non-statistical analysis fan (like me) not only can I understand, but also reevaluate something I can look at from a different angle. When we played, our college coach would state to us the stats are for the coaches and the alumni to bitch about. Our job was to execute each play like it was our last.

Many of us at Rams On Demand are concerned about the Ram secondary and special teams. As I listen to the sports talk here in Chicago, they 're dreading the Rams offensive attack big time...both running and passing. They believe if the Bears can keep it close they'll win.

The weather is now forecast to be a high of 18 with a low of 1 degrees. If that holds, about game time it may be about 10-12 degrees with winds between 10-20 mph.

It's interesting as we wait for Sunday nights game.

No desire to ever go on a boat cruise with large amounts of people.... To me it just sounds kinda disgusting if something goes wrong.
The only ones I've been on were an around the world cruise on a US Navy Subtender and the Carnival cruise I went on because there was a Styx concert on board when we arrived in Nassau. Plus I knew the lady at the AAA and I got a really good discount on it. It was okay. It was a week-long cruise but I was about ready to get home after 5 days. No way I could ever live on board like some of these people do.

Not me...

I lived it with my little sisters constantly asking "what if" questions through my high school years...

My favorite was:

"What if john Lennon had never met Yoko Ono" :eyeroll:
Can you only imagine?!

Hi Everyone!! On a 14 day cruise. Traveling through the Caribbean enjoying the sunshine! We left on the 10th. Didn’t think we would be able to see the game. But much to my surprise, the ship is showing them all!

Really looking forward to seeing the game Sunday night!!! Going to be cheering on our team to Victory from St Thomas!! Not overly concerned with the weather conditions
I sure do love the Caribbean, congrats on that. Tons of great beach bars in St Thomas so have fun. Not all of them have TVs for catching games by the way, so you might want to look that up before you hit port.

Also wash your hands frequently, as people be nasty. VGE is really common in a contained shipboard environment.

I could never live in the windy city. Not sure how people do it.
Pretty sure someone asked for this info responding to one of my previous posts.

That is very interesting. Also explains a lot as it pertains to how our run game looks so great but tends to get shut down when we get a lead and opponents know we're trying to burn clock.

This is why I say vs Chicago we need to burn clock with short passes as much as possible to ensure we're moving the chains. I don't want to see any of that 3 'n out bullshit when the game gets into the crunch, even if we have a couple TD lead.
