I'm not much of a draftnik. Didn't know anything about any of these guys before the draft. So I rely on the post draft evaluations.

One thing I know, relying on rookies to make your team better is risky. Most of them need a couple years to be legit contributors if they are at all. I don't see any of them starters on day one.

These are guys they'll have for the next 4 years. Ferguson is the kind of tight end McVay covets for his offense. Might not see it this year but expectations are he'll be a contributing piece for a few years. The first pick in the McVay era was a playmaking tight end. Everett wasn't terrible but did not live up to expectations.

Stewart will likely be a part of the rotation although he won't see as many snaps as Verse and Young. That might change in a year or two. He fits the kind of player they like. Non stop motor who loves the game.

I have no idea if Hunter will eventually turn out like Kyren Williams or end up like Zach Evans. I don't expect to see much of him during the season unless there are injuries. He might be the kick return guy.

Some people think Chris Paul is steal. He plays a position the Rams defense doesn't typically rely on. Not sure he can beat out Reeder or Speights. He might be spending more time on special teams until he shows he can be more than that. If he can play like some think he can, it would sure help. Especially against the run.

Mumpfield and Hamilton? Well, they might enhance the practice squad unless they can show something on special teams. Expecting good things from late day 3 picks might be asking too much.

You are correct about rookies often not helping right away, in most cases. However, if the Rams picked as well as they have in 23’-24’, then they may see some rookies contribute. But it’s not a great draft for top talent so the odds are against that.

There are a few positions though that could require rookies to play. Stewart could replace Hoecht’s hybrid spot if he beats out some of last years backup DLine/edge types. Ty Hamilton could definitely play in the DLine rotation if he beats Murchison for a spot. And the WR group is very small. They lack depth and Mumpfield could end up as the fifth best WR right away. Maybe he could see the field similarly to what Tyler Johnson did. His biggest competition will be Xavier Smith for the fifth spot.

Agreed. No love for Ferguson? I am hoping to see him and Higbee line up together when we go 12 personnel.

The spot next to Speights is wide open. I am not sleeping on Landman but Pooh or Dolic could be starting by season end

Please please let’s hope Reeder doesn’t make the 53 because then we know the position group has finally improved

I was just looking at places with openings. The three tight ends have a leg up knowing the offense, even with Oregon using some of McVays plays. I guess if Ferguson can master whatever blocking responsibilities required of him then we could see him early.

Linebacker is a very difficult transition from college. Speights looked better last summer than Reeder ever has. But we didn’t see him on the field until Reeder was injured. So, I’m not counting on either LBer while they’ve got three experienced players ahead of them.

I’ll be The First to say Jared Verse at times will take Hoecht places,as well as maybe B. Young.
Drafting Stewart helps on those downs.

If anyone was paying attention of how The Rams defense under Chris Shula evolved can see how important of pieces the Draft created in both The Rams new DLineman.

What no one talks about in the Philly game was B. FISKE injury.
Tyler Davis was a rotation guy last season.D. Johnson both season has found a place in the rotation.

I think The Rams learned a lot both offensively & defensively on there last drive of the playoffs.I don’t know how much the Rules have changed since Wade Phillips 2019?
The Rams draft class the last 3 (2)years have been excellent.I’m counting on The 2025 class to help push The Rams over the Top for the next 2 seasons.

Funny thing though under Sean Mcvay except for Jared Verse it’s been F-THOSE 1st rd PICKS!!
The Media has it wrong.Les Snead & Sean Mcvay have always Enjoyed Draft Day!

The Rams specifically leaned into the strengths of this draft class. TE, DL RB, & Edge. Although it was not considered by some a strong LB class I think it was deeper than many thought. I love what they did getting Paul and Dolac as a UDFA. I loved the value they received for the the LB choices and both have future starter written all over them. For all of the Campbell love I think Paul and Doclac are much higher values considering the capital expended to get them. I wanted an OT (especially OT) and CB too but the value just was not there. Both were considered weaker positions in this draft. Overall not a flashy draft class but the Rams added depth guys with starter upside who can contribute immediately as rotational pieces and on special teams.

Again they seemed to follow their North Star and draft hard-working character guys who love the game. Note also why I do not buy into the rumor about trading up for Tet McMillan.
