He can pass block and has heart, but he's small and slow. Emmitt Smith was 5-9 and just as fast as well, but had 20-25 lbs on him. Maybe
he'll be a work out warrior and gain some weight.

I'm not impressed but I don't watch college ball. McVay may just be looking for someone to pick up blitzes and get open on 5 yrd outs and Texas routes.

Having an opinion on where he’s at on the depth chart before the rookie even gets to LA is asinine. He could end up starting, or he could end up on the practice squad. Let him get his feet wet. Geez

That feels our top 3 RB's as of right now.

Like others have said, I am rooting for Funk, but I've not seen anything to suggest he's got a hold of that #3 spot.

Powell looked great and gave us a shot in the arm that helped propel us into the playoffs and championship game. I hear what you are saying but that would be a mistake IMO
Powell was great for us, but if Williams can return punts well, that opens up another roster spot. Roster spots are extremely valuable. Not having to save one for a pure returner is useful to a team.

He sure doesn't look slow on all those long TD runs, but I also don't watch much college ball. Highlights can be deceiving but he did take several balls to the house from his own side of the field.

I'm not sure why but something about Williams reminds me of Kevin Faulk. Not the most gifted or flashy guy but a gifted football player who can get yards when needed and be a swiss knife out of the backfield.
That is a great comparison. Spot on! These are combine numbers from Wiki. Remind you of anyone’s pro-day?

Faulk will be in the hall of fame one day so I think Williams would be pleased with that comp :)

I hear you. That said, Powell might have gone to the pro bowl if he had had a full season, he really was great. That kind of potential production is worth a roster spot on any squad. I felt genuinely excited every time he fielded a kick in space

I could see Williams still being active. Keep in mind that he can return punts. If they don't want to hold a roster spot for Powell, Williams kills two birds with one stone.
He's gonna be active. Henderson won't be able to compete with this guy once they get to hitting. Williams will be our RB2 and I don't think it's going to take a quarter season or whatever. Rams have seen enough of Henderson.

I'm not sure what the disconnect is with DH (outside of durability). He looked so good in the Super Bowl when McVay was using him in the passing game.

Yeah he's tough to figure out and as fans we'll never get the full story but I just think he lacks toughness. His college film had so many wide open holes. He can do a little dirty work when he needs to, but the games where it's high traffic in the hole and backfield snap after snap he seems to get worn down. Has to be toughness.

Either way he's had how many years to back up the RB1 and has yet to show he can do it. I think he's timed out. Question right now is whether he can make the roster. Once Williams locks up RB2 then you have to ask why not have someone who can play teams at RB3.

If he does make the team he's going to get the Hopkins treatment a lot on gameday IMO.

That's the problem after a while, the best ability is availability. Henderson has not answered the call from time to time and as a Coach, it's tough to keep dealing with it, especially if it happens within the game.

K Will looks like a baller with skills. Very versatile. Definitely a good get late in the draft.

Remember, Wes Welker from the cheatriots had a 4.65 40 yard time. I think Williams may be a similar type of player. A Swiss Army knife of football. I can see the appeal.

If the football gods in charge of health smiled on our RB room...... 'they would be impressive'. The gods and the RBs.

Can you imagine how McVay would shine with an awesome run game AND great QB? Gurley didn't have a Stafford and Stafford doesn't have a Gurley.

Hoping Kyren turns into a Chris Thompson type RB. I personally think that’s the type of player McVay has been looking for at RB to gobble up 3rd down, pass protect, and catch passes out of the backfield. Would be a great complement to Akers if he can emulate Chris Thompson.

This is a great point. I remember when Coach Mac was the OC in Washington and Chris Thompson was the real deal on 3rd downs.
Gotta think this is a part of Coach's offense that he wants to develop more.

Yea the long runs vs Clemson when he's running away from all those 5-star athletes show hes not too slow. He ran a 4.5 at the ND pro day and his 10/20 yard splits were very good. Hes decisive through the hole and accelerates quickly. I bet his top speed on the GPS trackers isn't very slow. Plus he seems to have elite intangibles so I expect him to improve throughout his rookie year.

Williams is a great pick. From the tape and McVay's confidence, he should pick up the offense quickly. He is great insurance for an often injured running back room. Henderson has a year remaining on his rookie deal so Williams will be ready to step in should Henderson leave as a free agent. Akers is the #1 with Henderson the #2 RB. Funk and William compete for #3. Then we watch it play out. Hopefully, they all stay healthy and stay fresh with a nice rotation.
