Cardinals QB Kyler Murray expected to play an entire half in 3rd preseason game
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray endured a rough outing last week. Fortunately, it appears he will have ample time to bounce back versus the
Minnesota Vikings in Week 3 of the preseason.
Head coach Kliff Kingsbury indicated that Murray will play more than he has all preseason against the Vikings on Saturday, via the
team’s official website:
“I expect him to play the most he has played in the preseason,” Kingsbury said.
Kingsbury further clarified on how long he expects Murray to be in.
“Up to a half and we’ll go from there,” he said.
The prospect of Murray logging in an entire would be a significant jump from the 20 snaps he registered against the Raiders. It is safe to say that his time in the game did not do much for his development after going just 3-of-8 for 12 yards while giving up a safety.
The Cardinals have not been shy about expressing their distaste for the preseason. Both Kingbury and Murray have acknowledged the vanilla offense that they have been running for the first two games. Regardless, this week is still viewed as a vital preseason game for many teams and it appears they are looking to ramp things up as well.
Kingsbury’s plans to play Murray an entire half or potentially more obviously comes with its fair share of risks, however, time is running out for Murray to find his footing with the start of the 2019 NFL season just around the corner.
The Vikings’ talented defense should provide the Cardinals’ offense with the kind of look they need before the real test begins.
