He had one of the greatest WR seasons of all time in 2021, and without him we don't make the SB and win it. But, after that, we gave him a contract to match that years output. And he hasn't lived up to the contract the last few years.
I'm guessing the team asked him to take a big pay cut, and his agent refused.
It's a cold hard business, but it's time to move on. The production isn't there anymore, and hopefully the new team takes up a big chunk of the salary we are set to pay him.

It’s difficult to conclusively make assumptions, but I’m leaning that way too. Worst case scenario maybe his agent said losing Kupp would potentially make Stafford want to retire.

This is just odd. Time flies. Seems like just a couple years ago in 2017 when he was a promising young rookie and I was thinking wow we got a good one. I loved the way he got open, made the tough catches, broke tackles for extra yards, and scored touchdowns over the years. Then last year he doesn't get any catches for several games. What's going on? I guess the writing was on the wall. Gonna miss him as a Ram.

Hate to see him go but you don't pay someone 29 mil cap hit for not 17 games and not 1000 yards. You just can't do that. We have a superbowl defense. We need superbowl offensive talent
