“The organization did a wonderful job of understanding that we could be in this situation at this time. So they didn’t wait until this year to be ready for this replacement plan, they did it a year ahead of time,” Kromer said, via Myles Simmons of the Rams’ official site. “So you obviously got Joe and Brian who have a year under their belt, being in the meetings, understanding what’s going on, learning from good players like Rodger Saffold and John Sullivan — we are going to miss that experience — but they’ve gained a lot of experience through watching them practice and watching them play games.”

Something people here and elsewhere fail to anticipate when looking into what we'll draft and then after why we drafted who we draft. Then they pull another fail and think because a guy didn't play a lot his rookie year that they must not like him. These guys clearly have a plan and that plan is to rarely rely on a rookie to contribute like he's a regular starter. They'll get snaps and they'll get practice time. Some of them may get a lot of snaps. But just because they're not a regular in their rookie year doens't mean the coaches don't like them and don't think they can play. They have a plan.

And older vets they think will need to be replaced relatively soon get to rest on Wednesdays usually, with a kid getting most of the practice snaps that day. So that even if a player has not gotten much game time, they've had substantial practice time. Kromer especially does that a lot.

Not sure how I punched in a careful rating on this. I removed it.

I feel like they will head at high skill players while not letting role players skip their grasp even if they have to go up or down to get them.

Bottom line is that this group works as a unit for now and into the future while others work as segments paying lip service to what should be obvious. No egos taking control.

The egos are there no doubt, it’s the culture McVay has created. It has always been about coaching players up & bring in players to fit.

You’ll see it come out on Sundays. Jared Goff is such a positive guy. It’s always we vs me with him & now the rest of The Rams.
- Since McVay has worked with Snead in the draft he has trusted him. He finds value & works his way back. Then he will move forward once he has acquired assets. It shows with Henderson & Rapp.If Rapp was taken Henderson probably would have been the choice ??

I thought Williams might have had a chance last season to make the team, because down was hurt & he got all the LT reps the year before. Noteboom has such a great power punch which most people don’t know. When in drills you can see his power, plus long arms.
Allen I questioned his size & weight. As a wrestler he knows about weight gain & weight lose. He has learned a lot from just seeing his brother develop into an excellent pro.He has always competed against them.
I’m guessing you wanted The Rams to take a Offensive Lineman instead of Gerald Everett ? He still is developing & I trusted the trade back. Didn’t know much about JJ , but Wade knew him from drafting his buddy from abc. Talk about a free pick !! I was a Kittle fan from Iowa, but Everett was a solid pick.
Go back & look at Kittles 40, it was like he was running a 50. One of the most impressive 40’s I’ve seen. Ingraham ran an excellent 40 as well, but not with that power. The Rams had to draft a TE & WR . Still getting Copper Kupp & Reynolds. Kromer said that year his young talent was as good as any in draft.

How Blythe has developed has been amazing. Cutting Brown & before that signing Big Rob to a 4 year extension. Kromer has been awesome & LT Whitworth has been the glue to keep the offensive lineman together.
Aaron Neary is a backup plan at Center if something was to go wrong with either one of the cent. He knows the system well & could be a guy up from the streets during the season ?
—Kromer only keeps a very limited amount of Offensive Lineman on game day. Which is also some questioned. I know I was shocked last season against Da Bears both Allen & Noteboom replaced Sullivan & Saffold at separate points in the game. The announcer made it clear The Rams only dressed 7 offensive lineman. Mcquaide is a stud , but he seems to hang out with LBers & Fassel.

The first year it was Blythe & Williams.

I don’t think Weddle will be taking many practice reps off. I laugh at folks saying he is lucky to play his 2 years as a starter. Can anyone say HOF ? Clay is going to help Samson even more in his development, so he won’t be the starter ?? Is that a real knock in Ebukam who had one of the coolest defensive games IMO a Ram player has ever had ? What a classic type of game in the LA Coliseum at Night !! Better than Mexico. A treat for most Ram fans. Feel sorry for the dedicated Fans that got hosed from all that though.

Will see what Brockers brings without Suh & finally having Aaron Donald in camp again. #69 has a good motor & a guy like Smart works hard. Will Donald hey Wednesday’s off ?? Talib ?? Or say a Robert Woods ??What a great signing.

And at #32 you have the player for 5 years, one to get him up to speed and 4 to kickass
train

Well giving up a 2nd rd pick I for Sammy or Peters ?? Didn’t help things ??

Aren’t The Rams in a place to get some nice comp picks as well next season?? Talk about looking ahead & being able to get solid veterans to sign.
— Did Suh sort of screw The Rams over a little by signing late ??

They get two 4th rd comp picks unless they move any for trade deadline deals like Fowler last year which is a possibility for a team like this. And you can bet if they are picking late 1st again they will trade back for more picks.

So you could have a draft with 2 - 2nds, 2 - 3rds, and 3- 4ths next year barring they don't trade any picks away before then.

I would agree fully here. Snead @ the draft time sure does seem to prefer to be highly mobile with the ability to move up or down as he desires more than having one high draft selection as a first-round pick. Snead has an enormous amount of Free Agents pending this upcoming March.

Pending FA's
Dante Fowler, Jr. ER
Andrew Whitworth LT
Michael Brockers
Aqib Talib CB
Cory Littleton ILB
Marcus Peters CB
Greg Zuerlein K
Blake Bortles QB
Bryce Hager ILB
Tyler Higbee TE
Brandon Allen QB
Morgan Fox 34DE
JoJo Natson WR
Marqui Christian CB
Mike Thomas WR
Austin Blythe RG
Kevin Peterson CB
Justin Davis RB

He got :poop: on by Suh or there would have been a good chance of three 4th rounders:mad:.

I would consider it is highly unlikely that Snead will be forced into any deadline trades @ this time to affect the chances of the awards of two 4th round selections. He got :poop: on by Suh or there would have been a good chance of three 4th rounders:mad:.

Trading for players under contract does not affect the draft pick compensation formula. It is affected by signing free agents that have not been given their unconditional release.

People don't seem to understand that Ebukam's role has changed. In the 3-4 hybrid scheme the dline aligns like a 4-3 and they play a one gap scheme. The second DE is actually one of the OLB. In his case Wade has chosen to use the WIL (Fowler) as his rush LB who plays much like a 4-3 DE. Baltimore used Suggs in the same manner.

Before Fowler, Ebukam played that rush LB role. Since his acquisition, Fowler has taken over that role. Not because of anything wrong with Ebukam, but simply because Samson faster and more athletic than Dante. Samson is now the only true OLB in that starting 7. They need Ebukam's speed because as the SAM LB his role is to cover the RB in the flat and set the edge if the QB starts to scramble or there is a strong side jet sweep. He will line up on the LOS on occasion as a pass rusher, but that is no longer his primary role.

This is why he was in position for his INT and fumble recovery. Ebukam played very well in his first year in this position. He's a work in progress in pass coverage but that is to be expected. Sampson is developing into a very good complete OLB, something there are few of but what every defense needs.

Brain Allen is more of your typical C. He's a scrappy player, with typical weight, but slightly shorter arms and height than you might want at center. Many centers tend to be shorter than OG's because it helps them gain leverage vs taller NT's, but if like Allen they also have short arms it will limit their play radius. In college (Mich St) he displayed good power and mobility, allowing him to get those second level blocks. At this point I think they found a good player especially as a 5th round pick. This is the kind of old school drafting that I think builds teams for the long run and keeps the trenches filled with quality talent at affordable prices.

I am talking about trading one of those comp picks like they did with Fowler..

Yeah - Suh didn’t cost The Rams much & was better than Joyner. Though Joyner will bring back a 4th rd pick.

Out of all the FA next season it will not amount to
Much in comp picks ?? Fowler & Peters hopefully can bring back what was given up ??

The Rams CB from Michigan is a freaking steal !! What a need & value pick !!

Yeah I really like David Long and as I've posted previously I see him replacing Talib next year.

I also see Nick Scott as a potential key contributor with a high ceiling. He's simply lacking coaching in his technique and experience. Although he's listed as a safety, he's got the size, speed and athleticism to make a pretty good boundary CB. Until then I can see him taking over for Natson as their return specialist.

I trust Kromer. And I believe Noteboom will do well. I'm just hoping Allen can play well too.
