From past experience we've seen Les pick up players that the Rams were interested in as potential draft picks. If Toney was on the Rams draft board, then I'd bet Snead is trying to make a deal to get him. If he was red flagged then he won't bother.

So Toney will be super motivated knowing that the Giants wanted to trade him but no one bit.
Hahaha good one....Giants writing the book on how to deal with their top draft picks. They could also be pissing him off as well but who knows. Draft season is lying season. I'm just eating my popcorn now and watching the show.

The Giants are idiots. That's all I can say about that. If the kid is as talented as some here are saying, you get him on board. New coaching staff, new beginning etc. Judge was a hard ass, so if they are approaching the team with the same hard ass approach, they may as well pack it in. Frankly, even watching some Giants ball, I cant say I have much of an opinion on the kid other than he had a big game against Dallas.
That said, I still cant comprehend how folks are so down on Van Jefferson.
I see more of defense for Hopkins, who has done literally nothing in first 2 regular seasons than Van.
In only his 2nd season, he put up the following numbers, with rank amongst all Wide Receivers:
Catches: 50, ranked #47
Yards: 802, ranked #36
Yards per catch: 16.0, ranked #8
TD Catch: 6, ranked #19
% of catch for 1st down: 64%, ranked 41
Average rank of those 5 stats, #30
This for a guy who is #3 WR, seeing 3rd highest targets (Combining Woods and OBJ) and is putting up numbers of a clear #2

I'm not sure that those numbers aren't a little eschewd as I'd like to know (yes I'm curious cuz I don't lol) what VJ's stats were in games where he didn't play with OBJ or Woods and was actually the #2 WR. Also speaks volumes to me that we added OBJ as a must and are still trying to sign him which wouldn't be the case if the Rams viewed VJ as an actual #2 WR. He didn't look good at all in the SB when I briefly saw him play the true role of #2, heck, Hopkins played better than him. However I wouldn't say I'm down on him but I'm like the coaching staff and pretty much most fans, I want more outta him because he's still lacking in areas that unfortunately can't be coached. Ultimately, I don't think he'll survive past his 1st contract since I doubt the Rams will invest that much coin into a WR as he seems to be JAG.

People are down on Van Jefferson because once Woods went down Van faded. Most expected that he would get more opportunities and make the most of it. He didn’t step up to fill the void even temporarily, until OBJ and Stafford got on the same page.

Van still is a body catcher and most expect he’d be working more with his hands by now. He’s also not winning any contested balls. Most feel if those things haven’t improved in his second year then they likely won’t.

As a third receiver he benefits from the scheme and attention paid to the #1 and #2 receiver. He couldn’t excel as the second receiver. Toney could do that.

Not really sure I get what you're saying. First of all, he is the #3, Robinson is now our #2. It remains to be seen if the Rams knew about Woods injury last year, and if they make the OBJ deal if Woods wasnt hurt. Either way, Jefferson has produced quite well given his targets/snaps etc. They waited 4 seasons on Josh Reynolds, and he never produced anywhere near what Jefferson has, so I think VJ gets much more PT
And I think if/when he's a FA, he'll be in decent demand if his number continue to improve. Look at what Christian Kirk came up with

@El Chapo Jr.

VJ was the #2 in the 2nd half of the SB.

Woods (#2) played from week 1 through week 9
OBJ (#2) played from week 10 through the first half of the Superbowl

The only time when VJ was the #2, until the very end was OBJ's first two games. VJ had 6 receptions for 147 yards (24.5 yds/rec) and a TD. If we give OBJ a third game learning the playbook, VJ had 6 receptions for 41 yards and a TD in that game. Total 12 for 188 (15.7) and 2 TD.

I'm saying look at the whole picture. It's easier to produce when you get the teams #3 CB to cover you and Kupp, Woods, or OBJ get way more attention along with McVay scheming things up. VJ struggled in the SB when he was called upon as the #2 to the point that Kupp had to just take over period. Also I looked cuz I finally stopped being lazy lol, but that's the only time last year VJ played as the de facto #2. I'm sure we can find another WR to fill his role when he is eventually allowed to test FA or if we trade him. The good part for VJ is he has showed he's a competent NFL WR and he'll get overpaid for it by some team.

Not so sure that happened, in the last 8 games of the reg season, Van went 23 catches, 369 yards and 3 TD. Pretty much the same

I'm not so sure that Rams fans are all that down on Van Jefferson, he's a pretty adequate to good #3, but many may see him more as nearing his ceiling as well as the likelihood for departure as his future contract comes closer into play. With Kupp & Robinson as #1 and #2, and the very real possibility of re-signing OBj, Van Jeff's value as a Ram diminishes, although his need is currently important to the team while we await a decision on OBj and how long his rehab will require. As the Kadarious Toney saga emerged and the thought of someone other than OBj as a true #1 talent becoming our #3 WR also sent Van Jeff's stock down a bit, Toney could have potentially brought an immediate upgrade at #3, but unless OBj is also discarded, future problems would likely appear. Managing Kupp, Robinson, OBj & Toney may sound like a fantasy line-up, but friction seems inevitable. Van Jefferson as #3 helped get us to the play-offs last season, he can do the same this year as well, but that isn't going to prevent Rams fans from imagining what a Kupp, Robinson, OBj trio might bring.
