I would think he has to be the unanimous choice among coaches in the NFL as the best punter in the game...

When Belichick calls your punter a "weapon", you know you have a great player. You KNOW how much Belichick would love to get his hands on a guy like Hekker which is why they better not fart around and they better pay the man. Can't remember the last shanked punt that burned us (we left that to the offense...)

Hekker is signed thru to the end of the 2020 season.

Here's a list of every punters CAP :

I believe IMO he's the best punter that we've ever had, and is definitely on track to be the Greatest ever. He has been our biggest offensive weapon in recent years, punishing teams with his pinpoint accuracy. Opposing coaches always mention him!

He's also a fun and humble guy too, the perfect role-model for younger players. Punters are people too ;)

Props to Bones though too, he's utilised Hekker's talent correctly.

He's gonna set a record for a punter contract when that comes due...

And I knew his contract wasn't up soon, but doesn't mean that someone like Belichick doesn't salivate about having a player like that.

And to answer the OP's question directly, Johnny Hekker is HISTORICALLY good. Yes, at this pace, he'd be on pace to put himself in HoF contention. That level of performance from any other position and it would be almost a lock. But only Ray Guy is in the HoF. Punters are people, but they don't get put up for the few precious slots.

Especially...WHEN...not IF...WHEN...the Rams start winning games, he's going to be seen by everyone for the stud punter he is.

Hekker just had the best year in NFL history for a Punter, and it wasn't particularly close. We are being spoiled. Now, let's get an offense that makes use of the advantages he gives us.

He's come a long way from this:

lol, never seen that punt before. Wow. Maybe that was his motivation to never be embarrassed again lol?

But yeah, Hekker has potential to be the goat at his position. Even though he is a punter that is saying a lot. If we get any kind of offense he is going to definitely be a weapon. Always having field position is a huge deal and his ability will really shine when we're finally scoring touchdowns again.

I have been a Rams fan since the mid 1960's I could not name a better Kicker than the one we currently have now. From all that I can find & read about him he is truly a great example of a wonderful human being! (y)

Except he's a punter.
Just messin' BR.

If our offense does that, Hekker may never get another chance to punt.

Ray Guy used to garner that type of attention and adulation.
You mean that guy with a bust in Canton? Fits with a discussion about Hekker. I hated the Raiduhs but still talked about Guy back in the day. Some players are just bigger than the position normally warrants.

I suspect he used helium or hydrogen or something other than air in the ball. The hang times were never duplicated by anyone else.
