I don't know about you but I think it's time for McVay to end his bromance with Wolford and coach up Perkins as #2. Wolford has come down to earth with his play IMO. They saw enough potential in Bryce to sign him. I think it's time to see what they have. I'm only saying from here on out the games become far more important. They need a backup QB who can take that position to the next level. They wasted that opportunity to give him game reps against Houston. There might be another when they play the Jaguars in week 13.

I really liked what I saw in Perkins in pre-season. He showed a lot of developmental progress in just one year. He still needs work on working through his progressions but he looked better than Tre Lance in doing it. He's got an adequate arm for all the throws out to 20 yards with good accuracy. I love his compact quick release, something Stafford doesn't always have.

I know a lot are laughing at this, but Perkins is better than most realize. It's exactly why he's on the roster and isn't in AZ, Seattle, or SF. Frankly, I would rather see a quick-strike passing offense between 5-20 yds than a deep- strike oriented offense. With Kupp, Woods, and Jefferson, they can tack on big YAC.

If McVay's the genius people say he is, I think he should evolve his offense into that quick-strike passing scheme and rely upon the YAC to get the big play. Stafford can do it because he can read defenses and occasionally throw that deep strike to keep the safeties honest. McVay didn't adjust his passing attack until the third quarter. That entire first half Stafford was still reading deep to short instead of adjusting to short to deep. That's why he was slow in getting his passes off.

If McVay does that then he will have an offense tailored to both Stafford and Perkins. Right now neither Perkins nor Wolford can play this offensive scheme as it is. Bryce has the talent to play in the NFL, the Rams should use him by getting him ready to play. A good backup QB is top trade bait.

Wolford got thrown in with 2nd team OL jags and vanilla play calling in 4th qtr vs Lions. Of course he didn't excell, McVay wasn't trying to score.

Perkins has no deep ball. Until he can throw an accurate pass more than 20 yds down field he'll remain QB #3.

If we are in the position of having to play either one of our back up QBs for an extended time, we should just tank and go for the number one pick, if we didn't trade it away before the draft that is!

I haven’t seen anything that validates Perkins can play in the NFL. His throwing motion is flawed. One read and run most of the time. He did get some reps but only in preseason and not with the 1’s and he’s still learning. He’s not the answer after Stafford and neither is Wolford. Hopefully we don’t see that guy on the roster for 5 years.

They ran wildcat with Akers last year. Why not design a play or two for Perkins to come in and give a change of pace?
I love the idea.
Let's face it, the #2 QB on this team isnt any kind of heir apparent. And they aint winning playoff games without Stafford. So the #2 QB has one of the 48 active roster spots, let him get his uniform dirty

The obsession with elevating the #3 QB to the #2 position is just kinda odd.

As for the offense, overall? Well.. no.. don't change a damn thing to the overall scheme. From what I've read.. what I'm sure most of us have read.. Stafford may be a little too in love with the deep reads at times.. and there ARE short reads available to him. He's got to get through the progressions and understand what the opponent is doing a little better.
