Looks like he's going to get $15M per over 5 years from either Wash or SF.

‘If That Guy Doesn’t Have Leverage ... What Non-QB in This League Does?’

I think I keep circling back to GM Dave Gettleman’s quote from the combine about his philosophy of managing the Panthers’ roster: “I’m not in the business of developing players for other teams.” Carolina had invested so much more than money in Norman, who became a sudden free agent entering his fifth season when the team rescinded his franchise tag. Benched for nine of 13 games during his second year for freelancing on plays, Norman underwent tutoring with defensive backs coach Steve Wilks while owner Jerry Richardson became something of a life coach to the young corner. Might negotiations have been so far apart that the Panthers realized a one-year lease for Norman (at $14 million) wasn’t worth it? It may be as simple as that.

I think I don’t like anyone comparing Norman to Greg Hardy and using the idea of him being “a locker room distraction” as rationale for why the Panthers cut ties. Hardy was ostracized by teammates in 2014. I’ve spent time in the Panthers locker room and feel comfortable saying that while Norman has offbeat off-field interests—among them a love for theater and riding horses—he is generally liked by teammates. To me, a looming holdout would be the only thing that could irk other Panthers. But to compare his situation to Greg Hardy’s? Totally unfair.

Can someone explain to me why being a zone coverage CB is so different then being man coverage one? I've played football in high school and semi pro a little and never had trouble switching between zone and man. Isn't a corners job to cover the guy in front of you? If you can't cover one on one, why are you in the NFL? Always confused me when someone claims a CB is strictly a zone guy. Like he doesn't know how to line up and cover a guy.

Yeah he would have fit just fine with us, he plays well in both man and zone; better in zone but still quite good in man and he's very strong in run support which GW prizes. His weaknesses are he's not a ballhawk and has some athletic limitations but his instincts make him extremely effective.

No way I'd' pay him $15 million though, that's just crazy. I'm sure Rams threw out something around $10-11 and quickly realized the Skins were "that team" that would overpay.

That's a ridiculous salary, but it's really only a 3/yr $50m contract.
Still though. Almost $17m a year?

:wow:That was some fast cash. :cautious: :santa::grouphug:

That is a crazy investment. Money is shifting to CB position as the NFL makes passing easier.

Damn you Ram65! Ram the torpedo's Ram65! You beat me to the punchline bowl...again

I was five minutes from figuring out, how and why money rotates and gravitates towards Sherman Tanks, Revis, Norman "don't josh me master Bates" cornerbacks as the NFL incrementally over decades and dynasties , inexorably implements rules conducive to passing, eliminating Deacon of Defense Clotheslines, while maximizing sideline ballet tight rope walking, cocky Circus Olay, Centerfolds moisturizing NFL gun slinger's arms, numb chucks, and Franchises.... Because Blonde bombshell Golddiggers dig and crave scrambling targets and Tarkenton's who can drop a dime in a slot in Montana, Hanna Gurley the balls, bursts forward, falls for a touch....

Down!.... Hometown, good looking, aw shucks Quarterbacks like Wentz as well as wincing and flinching at the Quarterbacks from Hell.
The Drama King's, your standard YouTube Bling... Manziels, Leafs, and the RG!!!3's...The oxymoron's of Howard Cosell's

Rogers that! .
