No, he didn’t. He felt the whole show was beneath his artistic value - not the character he played. He wanted to play roles that offered more range and sophistication. That’s why he was too cool for Bonanza. He wasn’t some ordinary shit-kicker. He was a renaissance man, and you will show him some respect.

Are you talking about Pernell Roberts or Parnell Whit?

Roberts did six seasons and about 200 episodes.

Wickedly funny. What's even better is I'm not 100% certain you weren't serious. :fistbump:

Married? Why? They had their own private chef, 10,000 acres of land, and could stroll into town and shack up with babes whenever they wanted. Tell me again how marriage would have iced that cake?

It gives rise to the idea that they swing differently than heterosexuals, not that there is anything wrong with that.... Nothing like the Duke!

I think John Wayne's acting was hokey and not well down. Clint pulled off the Western so much better. There are several others that are far better than the Duke. I grew up watching John Wayne btw. My dad was a huge fan. I'm obviously not.

I think Wayne was the best of his time. With the exception of Ben Johnson who was the best overall cowboy actor ever. (IMHO) Favorite movie by Wayne would be the Shootist. The story of the aging dying gunslinger combined with the irony of what was going on in his real life. The blurred lines of, were they outlaws or lawmen? Or whatever fit the moment? The choice of dying in your bed screaming or standing on your own two feet with a gun in your hand the same way you had lived your life. It was the way we hope our heroes would be. All star cast, great story, overall great flick.

Watching Bonanza growing up, there was just one thing that bothered me a little.

Ben, Adam, Hoss and Little Joe wore EXACTLY the same clothes in every episode.

I mean, for instance, did Adam have 20 black shirts and a dozen pair of black pants, or did Hop Sing have to do a load of laundry every fucking morning?!? Because THAT would not be right.
