I may be in the minority, but I'd be fine with a rook like Simpson/Nuss backing up this year. We will save a good amount of $ that can be used elsewhere. I just personally think we have almost zero chance to win the SB if Staff goes down, even with G-String on our roster. In fact, I think we have a slightly better shot with someone like Simpson, who is an unknown and could be excellent. I'm sorry, G-String is not excellent anymore, if he ever was.
The problem with a rookie backup is that the Rams #2 QB is the defacto #1 QB in TC/PS because Stafford barely saw any snaps last year and had a huge year. Look for more of the same this year. Got to have a guy who can run an NFL offense in practice, not one who is learning it

Free agency isnt the only way to get a backup QB. We dont know who "could" be available in a trade, or who will be cut. Guys like Aiden O'Connell from the Raiders, Spencer Rattler Saints, Davis Mills could be available due to crowded QB rooms. Not advocating for any of them necessarily, just saying that FA isnt the only way
ABSOLUTELY.

I was merely responding to a poster who stated 'there were better back-up QBs (than Garoppolo) out there'
and I asked him who he was thinking about because I do not see any current free agents I think are better

WOW - maybe you should be a director. How much do you know about Porn.
The only thing I know about porn is what I've learned here in the boobies and the booty threads.
I am an earth angel and absolutely know nothing else about naked ladies.

My guess is they're going to sign Stafford first and then work on Garoppolo's contract with whatever's left over. And of course, with Stafford's consent. I don't see any other thing they can do really.

G string will resign. He's just waiting a bit. He gets in the news cycle and it's got to be a little fun I would imagine. Expect him back.

Anyone really interested in the status of Jimmy Garoppolo may want to listen/watch today's press conference with McVay and Snead. Easy to find. On the Rams' team site.

Early in the Press Conference, McVay and Snead are asked about Garoppolo.

The response was that they want him to be the back-up but they were being patient, allowing Garoppolo to go through his decision-making process.

McVay said they were 'Hopeful' and this is an Exact Quote ...
'When the time is right, he will change his mind.'

That suggests Garoppolo is currently clearly leaning towards retirement but the Rams are waiting and hoping he will change his mind, decide to play and return to the Rams.
