I think he is going to hang it up and go milf hunting for a few years, myself. If it were about getting top dollar, it feels like flirting with other teams might be more effective.

If that tactic is to get bigger money he can go kick rocks. We have needs to get to the SB.
We definitely have needs.
And one of them is a quarterback who could step in for a few games and win a few and who's been to the Super Bowl before. :)

Garoppolo has always been a hard sell to the fans in general and posters on here due to his previous 49er stench.

This is very true - I have always had a hard time getting past it.

But I'm also just not a believer in the talent level, to be honest. He was the real weakness in that loaded San Fran team, was he not?

He may be able to keep us in a game or two - but if Stafford was not there for the playoffs, he doesn't feel like the guy who would be able to take us the distance, does he? Most backups aren't - I know.

So, if the Rams don't sign Garoppolo by start of draft, that may be a sign the Rams just didn't want him back all that much. I mean, there's not "that much" in the way of QB's this draft, so you'd think if the Rams thought Jimmy was that important, they'd get a deal done prior to the draft. Guess there's still some time left, but the feeling seems to be he's done as a Ram.

Don't you believe in feel good stories, man?
John Cappelletti?
Brian's Song?
Wounded Rocky Bleier?
Kurt Warner!?!?

Maybe the next feel good story will be Garoppolo!!! :)
They might even do a movie staring Tom Brady as Jimmy g and Sydney Sweeney as the pornstar he got with.

I do believe - and if the Rams had a proven journeyman backup when Trent Green went down, Kurt would be stocking shelves still. Sometimes the "good enough" can get in the way of the "could be great"

Odd that we didn't get leaks of G's thoughts of retirement during the Cardinals rumors - not saying he's not actually thinking of retirement now. . . .

Regardless, safe to presume that, as a vet, G has little/no interest in any offseason conditioning/OTA/camp activities, by any team.

I may be in the minority, but I'd be fine with a rook like Simpson/Nuss backing up this year. We will save a good amount of $ that can be used elsewhere. I just personally think we have almost zero chance to win the SB if Staff goes down, even with G-String on our roster. In fact, I think we have a slightly better shot with someone like Simpson, who is an unknown and could be excellent. I'm sorry, G-String is not excellent anymore, if he ever was.

G-string was never excellent. But was very solid. Led a Super Bowl in the 4th Quarter. Various other high Playoff appearances. Played well above average in his only start for us.

If we are looking at Draft for Quarterback, you already mentioned Simpson. Beck is starting to rise a little as possible 2nd Quarterback this Draft and Pelissero just released a piece that Nussmeier just had a cyst on his spine diagnosed, that caused his erratic play this season.
