If money wasn't an issue, would you rather have Johnson or Peters alongside Talib?

I love Peters but I'm leaning towards Johnson. Maybe next year will change things.

I always like Tj, he was a good player, period. People get caught up with money, its not our money, so who cares?

They didn't have much of a choice. The cupboard was bare.

yeah, i didn't say they did the wrong thing. they didn't have a choice. but that was on them for not planning for the future better at the cb position. it's not like they didn't know both jj and tru were gonna be free agents at the same time.

There is always going to be desperate teams overpaying players. It's amazing that the Rams got Woods on such a sweet contract. I bet he will be getting some big offers from other teams next year.

It's always worse when you have a winning team. Everyone wants to raid your players.

the whole nfl community was laughing at the rams for giving him that contract. that just shows how stupid they are.

Trumaine Monte Johnson's durability made him a risk and that is why I would have had trepidation signing him long term, plus Johnson had some meltdowns as well. Gregg Williams will re-energize Johnson and he'll play better next season IMO, but I never thought he was a true shut down corner.

Janoris Jermain Jenkins is a shut down corner and I would have extended him. Rams thought they had things in place, but Jenkins fired his agent and for him, that was a wise move. Overall I'm starting to believe you should always draft a young CB every year in order to keep things balanced. I miss Jenkins, Johnson not so much.

Peters

He's been durable and has a swagger.

Maybe he hasn't lived completely up to the trade day hype, but I think he finished the season well and we see that carry over.

Might never be a good tackler, though. So, might need to accept that.

Not even close to a shut down corner, Den. A better cover man than Tru, certainly. But always lacked the consistency to be elite.

I think that is where teams make their greatest FA mistakes: projections. Teams' needs drive them to convince themselves a player will do better in their scheme, with their coaching, etc. Sometimes they're right, but probably more often than not they get the same guy but with a big contract.

Tru is precisely who the Jets got. Same with Jackrabbit and the Gints. Boy did those teams do us a favor.

Who cares? That’s money out of a billionare’s pocket. Rams got 2 years of a DB in his prime without having to commit long term. We had the cap space at the time and a need at that position. Why cry over a billionare’s money lol

Well in the end it worked out.Mcvay in braced his leaders. In the end the comp will come in handy.
Tru was what he was. I excellent CB with the ball in the air. He often got hurt, & was selfish as a player vs team.

No doubt after last season Tru. I think Peters has more upside, but he has really small hands.

I like Pleasant coaching the CB’s. I like the 2 OK st. Guys. Just like how The Rams will keep adding depth.

There was a time where that was a good idea. —- JJ always killed me though with that cushion on third & short. Always a slant in front for a first down, or when The Rams finally tie or go ahead, teams would cut him deep & FS up.

Yeah, I'm the same way. Besides, I've never once seen a player get the full amount of a contract (i.e., the full 72 mil). Usually the player gets cut 2 or 3 years down the line.

Remember Mario Williams when he signed with the Bills?

It happens. Big Whit for example. Or even AD.

IMO the key with FAs is paying the types who are hungry and love the game regardless of the paycheck. That and fit of course.
