Who cares about Cook?

Look at the 4 teams left. Good offensive schemes and franchise QBs on every single one of them.

We will now have the same thing. It's a time to be happy Rams fans!!

You don't need proof that our coaching and system sucked. Not sure why the OP feels the need to defend it, not like I know anyone here who thinks either was good.

And Cook still sucks. Great catch there at the end, sure. But not only his drops were on display. He also pulled up on a route that almost resulted in catastrophe had things worked out differently.

Green Bay won't keep him around. He's a rental weapon that they can dish it to for now but they're not going to put up with his BS like Fish did.

Lol.
No way, man.
Cook will never be a great player.
He's ok. That's all he'll ever be. Just like Lance Kendricks. Just ok.

Tell me you didn't just compare Cook to Rockhands McKendricks. He still blames the sun for his cloudy day TD drop.

Maybe he thought the sun was setting in the East. See Goff thread...

Your right. That was unfair to Kendricks.
Kendricks produced more than Cook in the worst offense in the NFL.

Cook is currently in a position / situation to succeed. He's in a great passing offense, with one of the best passing QBs that we're likely to see play the game. Cook hasn't dominated to the level that his athleticism and potential, he still seems lacklustre on the field, is as productive as our own Kendricks, however most people seem to want to cut him for the lack of production.

Cook usually has one great game that skews his stats, then becomes Mr Nobody for weeks. Does a couple of good catches, then misses easy ones in the Red Zone.

The success on that play was purely down to Rodgers' own ability. Not the scheme, not Cook, but Rodgers. Randall Cobb said that " the final play was not an actual playcall. Rodgers just told each receiver what to do, like a kid drawing in the dirt." It wasn't the OC, it wasn't the scheme, it was Rodgers.

IMO. If Crosby had missed that 51yd FG, then this thread wouldn't even had been started.

I think the point is that they won't have any of the BS because they have coaches and a QB that are utilizing him correctly. I guess it is a question of where Cook's BS came from, the holes in his skill set? His character? Or a product of being trapped in an environment he hated? I'll take the cop out answer and think it is a mix of all.

Agreed this is beating the proverbial dead horse. Obviously no Rams fan is going to buy into all the praises that GB/Rodgers sings over Cook but I think it is a valid thread to raise even if somewhat unnecessary. There's enough blame to go around for both Cook and the former Rams regime, but clearly the scale has tilted in Cook's favor even if it causes a bad taste in Rams fans mouths. Hopefully Cook realizes that he ended up in probably the one place that this result could happen, it's more a tribute to Rodgers than him.

Oh to be a Rams fan during the playoffs. A 4 page thread on whether or not Cook sucks?
Yay....
All of our tight ends have been disappointing since Ernie Conwell left the locker room for good IMO

I wouldn't say Kendricks has been disappointing. Lance Kendricks is a good TE and with a better offensive scheme, he should be featured more. The only year that was really disappointing with him was his rookie year after going off in the preseason(and yes, I realize that season wasn't his lowest in terms of yards receiving, but I am just basing it off of the hype coming from the preseason).

I'm with you here @Lesson - I think Kendricks is better than most Rams fans think...

Hmmm.....I like Cook...is he the flypaper-hands type TE that I love? No...not even close...But he's that matchup nightmare-speed threat in the seam I do like.
I always tell this story...At Az, year AFTER JJ's two int returns...Cook is on the sideline, I'm in my seat...our eyes meet. I almost feel like he's looking at me...And, I'd been tailgating, yelling, and just sick with our performance. so Cook see the disgust in my face and kinda looks back like, "man, it is what it is"....like he couldn't fix it, or stand it too...I think Cook wants to win...needs to win...needs to be around winners/winning environment...to perform. Just a feeling.
There's a lot wrong with offense...but Cook, Sam Bradfords, Zac Stacy's, Gurley's...they're not the reason..Just a small part of an overall problem. Oh yeah...Neither is Quick or Britt.
According to these stats, Brian Quick was the most reliable wide receiver on the Rams.
Finally, truth at last.

One game and he had Rodgers passing him the ball. Besides, he has still yet to record a single block in the NFL.

Cook was a victim of Fisher's laid back "country club", no accountability, soft spoken type culture the Rams have had.

My favourite Cook play last night was about 2 minutes before the big catch where the ball went right through both of his hands and was NOT tipped by anyone. Would have put the packers in field goal position with no need for a miracle catch. Classic Jared.

He's got stone hands and is below average in pass pro, but other than that....

Well yes. But that is also obvious. He's just a super talented player with poor hand-eye coordination and focus IMO. A great offense like Green Bay won't stall out every time he drops a pass or runs the wrong route, but as I mentioned he stopped a route prematurely in that game that could have cost them. Difference is they'll use him for this season then probably move on to a better option because they have higher standards.

And I'll also say that I expect Higbee to be an All Pro for us. He is not as much of a raw athlete as Cook (few are tbh), but he has better hand-eye coordination and focus on the ball, is still extremely athletic for his size, and most importantly is now going to get the coaching he needs to maximize his ability. IMO he'll be that player who comes out of nowhere to be a centerpiece of our offense starting next year.
