Article:

Rams Should Seize Golden Opportunity to Sign Waived LB Jamin Davis
By BVM Sportsdesk, 1h ago

The Rams have a timely opportunity to sign former first-round linebacker Jamin Davis, recently waived by the Washington Commodes after inconsistent performances. Despite struggles since being drafted in 2021 and a failed transition to defensive end, Davis's potential remains evident. His tackling ability and blitzing skills could provide a significant upgrade over current linebackers Troy Reeder and Christian Rozeboom. The Rams could benefit from his aggressive playstyle, especially with a run defense that needs enhancement.

By the Numbers
Jamin Davis was a first-round pick in 2021.
Davis played three-plus seasons with the Washington Commodes before being waived.
State of Play
The Rams currently struggle with linebacker depth and performance.
Jamin Davis is looking for a fresh start after being mismanaged in Washington.

What's Next
If the Rams move quickly to acquire Davis, he could immediately contribute to improving their defense and provide competition for current linebackers. A successful integration could rejuvenate his career.

Bottom Line
The Rams should capitalize on the chance to sign Jamin Davis, whose skill set could address pressing weaknesses in their defense and potentially revitalize his career.

We aren’t gonna sign him or any other free agent LB. We are stuck with what we got.

He's a first round athlete who didn't work out. So yeah if we can add him let's do it. Only thing here is we don't know if the dude is a jerk in the locker room, film room, etc. But the Rams will know more of the behind the scenes stuff so if it happens it means they vetted him and he's basically a first round redemption possibility. Which at this point given what we've been enduring feels worthwhile.

He should be talented considering where he was drafted. Good coaching could bring more out of him. But so far Shula ain't looking like he can provide that good coaching.

Less than two weeks ago, another off-ball-Linebacker, born in 1998, who was a former 1st round draft choice and a multi-year-starter was released by his team when Philadelphia let go of Devin White.

White had more individual and team success in Tampa than Jamin Davis had in Washington.

I was hoping the Rams would sign White. Would also be happy if they signed Davis. They are both younger than Reeder and/or Rozeboom. Would just like to see some better athleticism at Inside-Linebacker.

Not expecting it ... but still Hoping.

I said no because stick with what we have, can we afford him , will we win the claim, etc. He's got promise and problems and the Rams ain't it.

Just think hypothetically the Rams could have had 2 younger LB that could potentially be a better long term deal. Idk I'm just spitting some false hope here but in theory the Rams Could've had Devin White and Jamin Davis as starting LB this year.

All of a sudden our LB's would be an area of semi strength, allegedly

Davis was a combine climber. He was projected to ba third round pick until he hit the combine. Then he blew up. I was hoping the Rams would get him before that.

However, LBer is an instinct position. If he doesn’t have the instincts I doubt he’d be much of an improvement.

Instinct is good ... Instinct is Great ... Basic Instinct ... excellent film. But it's more than just Instinct.

Off-ball, inside linebackers need to have the athleticism to Get to the ball, and Make a positive play.

It's the lack of Getting There and Making a Play that is obvious in my opinion.

If the Rams' coaches tell us Reeder and Rozeboom know what is going-on and can read a play, I believe them.

Unfortunately, anyone can see that they just do Not get to the ball and make a positive play nearly enough.
A younger, more athletic player might be able to do more. Devin White was a starting ILB on a defense that shut-down Patrick Mahomes in a Super Bowl

Yes, please sign him. Even if he's just an A+ athlete, he brings more to the table than our current starters.
He could teach “speed bump” how to change direction without having to put it in park first. He could teach “traffic cone” how to step in the way of a TE instead of away from a TE.

I think you need both. I’m guessing David lacks the instincts because he certainly has the athleticism….that Rozeboom and Reeder don’t
