Hate to exploit a guy's injury, but barring injury to Gurley, Mason won't get a lot of touches. However, he is one of the few starting caliber, young, experienced RBs not starting. KC is in need of such a RB. I know such trades rarely happen, but I see an opportunity. Trading Mason would leave us with Gurley, Cunningham, and Watts (plus Brown on the practice squad).

Thoughts?

Jamaal Charles's injury should also be a warning to teams not to have only one good, young, talented RB. I like Watts plenty, but having depth at RB is important.

I made a similar post about trading our CB depth for OL help earlier this year... I've since learned, thanks to the injury to Gaines and nicks and bruises to TJ and JJ since.

Kniles Davis will be fine for them. They won't trade for Mason unless it's for peanuts.

Wow I don't even think of this stuff, always impressed with the minds here spotting these opportunities. But I don't think KC feels it has a RB need yet. Knile Davis has been pretty damn good, and they have some other guy now that they seem to feel is even better, so I would be surprised to see them trade for RB at this point.

I hear they really like Charcandrick West and that he's the starter the rest of the year, Knile is the change of pace. I'm not sure they'll want Mason, he's not much of an upgrade.

Honestly though, I wouldn't be too opposed to trading Mason at the right price. It has to be a good deal for us though, because if Gurley goes down, we need a capable starter. I'm not sure Cunningham is an every down back, even though he's been awesome this year in his role. Watts hasn't played heavily against starting NFL defenses, could he do it? He looked amazing, but against backups. Malcolm Brown as well.

I'd need to get a fairly high pick back, like the 3rd we spent on him. I doubt you'd get that for him though, so it's probably not worth it. I'd rather have him for his occasional change of pace and spot start duties on his cheap contract. He's great insurance.
