At that compensation level (trade and salary) I am glad we didn’t give up what Pittsburgh did. Yikes!

Has a reliable source shown the Rams were "in" on trading for him? Or were they "in" if Miami took on 80% of the money? Or were "in" on offering Miami something they wouldn't accept and wait to see if they released him?

Even McVay's comments on the situation pointed to not much of an attempt to obtain him..... "yeah, a great player we'd love to have but the obstacles (read: money) makes it very difficult".

No hate. Great player. Greater cost. Let's be honest. It's not as if he's Darrelle Revis or Aeneas Williams in their prime.
Breer said there were two teams discussing a trade for Ramsey: The Steelers and the Rams.

I don’t know why you would have to qualify it with made up conditions to make it fit your story. Were you in on the negotiations?

I agree. But, it’s hard to compare since we don’t know if the Rams wanted Jonny Smith or how much he added to the trade package.

It doesn’t matter sound like they were looking for a good safety to counter the loss of Ramsey. Maybe they wanted Kinchens.

Fit what story?

All I'm speculating is they weren't very seriously "in". And I don't blame them.

Hell, if the Rams made a phone call to see what Miami was asking and then said "no thanks", it doesn't make Breer a liar.

Again, fit what story?

I find it weird how some times folks would rather dispute sources than to just let it go that their narrative doesnt fit. I'm sure I've been guilty of it myself. One of those quirks of "socializing on line" I guess

By suggesting they had no serious interest, you are supporting your idea that they shouldn’t have had any interest.

You are supporting your opinion with an assumption.

All we know is that they were in trade talks.

Some people try to do this with their draft crushes too. I don’t get it.

On the contrary, you obviously don't know my opinion. I believe they did have interest. And I would have loved having Ramsey for a great price. Yes, all we know is they were in trade talks. We also know McVay's comments on the situation when asked, which could be bullshit and 100% interest in making a deal. I tend to believe, with our cap space available, that was not the case. I believe they wanted Miami to really cave in their demands or release him. And I'm not heartbroken we didn't get him.

Your comment earlier made it sound presumptuous. We don’t know the details.

If the Rams really were out so quickly, why did the Steelers give up as much as they did? If your scenario is right then the Steelers were bidding against themselves.

I tend to believe reputable reporters. I don’t pay much mind to coach speak though. Snead and McVay rarely criticize players nor give details on what’s cooking behind the scenes.

Like you said, we don't know anything. Maybe they were out quickly, maybe they were in it until the end. Either way, they didn't offer what Pittsburgh did since the bottom line is obviously, Miami liked Pittsburgh's offer better. Maybe Miami wanted a player.....Lake? Kinchens? Cobie Durant? Who knows? Maybe the Rams wanted them to eat more than 3 mil?

There seems to be a lot of assumption that the Rams were somehow hard after Ramsey as one of only two teams involved. Yet I have seen nothing but a sports writer saying they were. We have McVay essentially saying Ramsey is a great player and he’d love to have him if not for the money involved. I believe he added that there hadn’t been any real discussion of late as far as he was concerned. That was quite early into the process. Les said a few things but none of it appeared as if they were hot and heavy after signing Ramsey.

I’m guessing there is a fair bit of connect the dots being played here. I have no doubt the Rams inquired. What none of us knows is how serious they tried to make something happen. To me, it felt like they inquired, didn’t get the kind of answer they wanted, and decided to take a wait and see on how it unfolded.

People can dispute my theory. But the funny thing is that they will have exactly as much insight and information as I have presented.

There’s a lot of hand wringing concerning our CBs. I don’t think our coaches share that level of concern. Otherwise they likely would have done SOMETHING about it. And I highly doubt that something was thought to be trading for Ramsey.

I would have liked to see Ramsey back in horns. But I’m not surprised at all that it didn’t happen. Nor do I think are the Rams.

And how would the Steelers know the Rams were out? Because we or Miami would have told them? You don’t think Miami used “other interest” as leverage?

THIS ^^^^^^
Even if there's a modest amount of concern on the coaches part, that'll all be realized or not in camp. If they desire to add to the group, they can either trade, claim guys off waivers or sign outright once they're released. But at this time they must feel pretty good about who they have in house. Maybe they're going on the premise, "we need guys who can cover tightly for 2, 2 and a half seconds"!

This is the correct read. If the Rams were hot and heavy after him they would have gotten it done. Not like the price was high.

Rams were extremely interested but the price was too steep is what I got. At this point, who gives a shit now, what's done is done. Still think our CB room is a weak link until proven otherwise. I'm sure many, myself included, will be paying attention to that group when the bullets start flying.

This is 100% speculation, be it wishful speculation or not. Either way, there is nothing in the reports from the media or the Rams that the interest was "extreme".
What you are saying is also speculation so what's the point? Thanks for cutting out an excerpt of what I fully said though lol. I'm clearly only giving my thoughts of what I took from the situation. I even said who gives a shit at this moment because its done. You seem to want to drag this convo out don't ya :laugh1:

I guess I should have prefaced my comment with, "well, it's over so who gives a shit, but your comment was 100% speculation" and you would have been fine with it, right? Sorry for that error.:ROFLMAO:

What's amusing to me is the Kyren thread reached 12 pages and some fans were saying it should die a quick death (paraphrasing). The Ramsey thread is currently on page 46. Seems like accusing somebody of dragging it out is a little like closing the barn door after the horse ran away.

For those keeping score at home, that's 12 pages for one of our current players and 46 for somebody who hasn't played for us in 3 years!:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
