Probably not a real popular thought, but I really think that perhaps Davis wasn't experienced enough to realize he was in way over his head...Once the death spiral began, he realized and was overcome...
With our Ram OL I suggest all of our QB's after Sam Bradford be elusive as hell & draft some QB's like Blake Sims & Nick Marshall types. We may need to go get some Wild Cat/Option QB's too. Austin Davis fits the needed type.
I would suggest that the old aging Shaun Hill not return here in 2015.
I'd bring back Davis next year. The defense didn't play well at all while he was playing IMO. I'd like to see if he could cut down the turnovers and actually have 2.5 seconds to stand in the pocket and make reads. He makes a decent back up IMO. Great team guy and he can lead. Give him an O line and a consistent running game and who knows. He was rolling against Dallas until Scott Wells botched the snap. Was also a Jared Cook drop from 4 TDs and a chance at a comeback in that game.
Exactly what I was thinking....
I'm not cool with Austin 'pick 6' Davis...
However there has been other starting QB legends that had a tumultuous start in their starting careers. With that being said I don't see Davis doing squat with a opportunity, rather take a chance on a rookie, Glennon, or Foles.
I think I'd bring back Davis and let him compete for the no 2 spot. I'm interested to see if he learned, grew while watching the 2nd half of the season. I would however bring in quality competition ( a quarterback who has the potential to start in case of another injury to Sam) and that way if he actually wins the job it will be because he actually improved in his ability to read a defense and his decisiveness - where to go with the ball.
