This team can easily beat anyone, even in the 3 losses the Rams had a chance going into the 4th quarter. Few other teams can boast that.

McVay has a 22 - 8 record as HC.

Hard to envision the Rams not improving on last year's impressive 11-5 record despite this years defense much poorer overall performance.

I see little cause for alarm.

Maybe next season we need to think about getting someone to play the fullback role. The 49ers have a good one in Kyle Juszczyk.

I would have agreed with you three games ago but not now. Something is definitely off and if it doesn't get corrected immediately then this season will end with weeping and gnashing of teeth by the fan base.

The pressure certainly got to Goff when he gave the ball up deep in his own end with a boneheaded play. Who the F was he trying to get the ball to with someone right in his face? I'm betting McVay has told him repeatedly to eat it a nd live to play another down.

That one gaffe gave the game away.

I think a lot goes into that dumb play on Goff's part. He had to be thinking the D was falling apart and he had to save the play. It seemed in that 3rd quarter everyone melted down. The D suffered from missed tackles, over pursuit, guys trying to do too much and not doing their job.

3 straight weeks and no adjustments on offense.

In the second half of the Bears game, they had no short dump off game. Goff had no where to go with the ball against the deep zones the Bears played, because there were no short options other than screens to Gurley, that just missed or would have been first downs or huge plays.

Against the Eagles, they did incorporate the short game.

Everett and Higbee both caught short out routes, when the intermediate and deep routes were covered. Goff hit a few to Gurley also.

I definitely noticed that adjustment.

I kind of agree with you. I think McVay along with the whole offense feels stressed because of how poorly the defense is playing. When you feel like you have to score on every drive it makes sense that it “gets to you” a little bit.

McVay’s facial expression when Natson lost the ball on the return was like a mental scream of “MFer” at the sidelines against the Seahawks when the Rams squeaked by on the last play.

Well let's see how the Rams respond next week

The defense has been "off" nearly the whole God Damn year while constantly stellar offensive playmaking/calling has produced the Rams' 11 - 3 record and another playoff berth.

I have been thankful and amazed but not deluded.

The idea that our defense could actually shut down a quality opponent this time of year and win a game seems quite farfetched. It should not be, and until that changes another early playoff exit will come as no surprise to me.

People marvel at the GSOT but few outside of this board remember that the 1999 Ram defense held TB to 6 points in the NFC championship game and then shut out Tennesse in the first half of the Super Bowl.

It takes two to tango.

To be fair, the defense didn't do terrible. I mean yeah they gave up points and yards (and honestly, which team doesn't?...well maybe the Bears this year). They were more screwed by short fields and turnovers.

Their effort isn’t there either. At least not for Peters.

Well...

Our issues are many and so the solutions will be, also.

But the single biggest was identified by jrry32 and by X. Namely, our execution has been a big culprit, so McVay would be wise to start right there.

And I will add this. I’m seeing a lack of intensity by many players on our D. Where is the leadership that normally corrects this? Hell, where is Wade?

Somehow, some way McVay has got to get a handle on these two things, and PDQ, at that. Or else...

What a damn joke his play has been. Chiefs fleeced us.

I have to hope he'll turn it on in a contract season next year. But jesus man, I am not confident he can.

His attitude isn’t the the best either.

I know he’s an emotional person, cmon dude be professional and block out the noise.

I was happy when we got him but now I’m not sure if I’d want to extend him.

Yeah no doubt. I'm seriously concerned with the quality of the locker room on defense with him doing wtf he wants with zero discipline from the team. And he used to have the elite skills to counter his behavior but now?

Would not surprise me if the Rams cut him. Let another NFC team sign him for the playoffs, I could care less. At least I don't have to watch him ole runners and run his mouth. It's hard to root for dudes like him, just a bad deal IMO.

I can almost hear the hoots, shouting, and hollering from the film room.

McVay has some decisions to make concerning much needed defensive coaching and player changes this offseason.

This may sound silly, but honestly McVay needs to SLEEP. I know the dude is an obsessive workforce of a Head Coach, but I bet he lets himself be on a different level of tired; which I'm sure a lot of coaches do. Nonetheless, it actually becomes detrimental to himself and the team. All the sudden we're seeing playcalling that is uncharacteristic of him, we're seeing an offense with little creativity.

This is a very real thing and possibility, I suffer from it myself but like to believe I have found better balance with age. I work with someone that is real bad, he crashed his car after falling asleep while driving only a couple days prior. It is no help to be sleep deprived when your body and mind do weird things and logical thinking becomes less logical. Not saying McVay has this but it does exist

Is the pressure getting to the Saints too? Their offense has been pretty crappy in now their 3rd straight game too
