I mean, I am curious - who really enjoys this current brand of football, outside of cheering for the Rams?

28 QB's right now have a completion percentage >61%
Drew Brees completing 78% of his passes

Watching GB-SF right now:

CJ Beatherd 8-9, 178 yards, 2 TD
Rodgers 11-20, 222 yards

The rules have made it impossible to play defense at a high level for a sustained period of time.

I just miss football when it wasn't like a video game.

They are giving the offenses the edge. In few years, none of the kids coming into the game will want to play defense.
Games keep getting more and more like the Pro-Bowl.

Looking at the bottom of the TV screen for a yellow flag after every good play has become a habit .

I love it.

Watch every second of every game I can.

The Packers defense has been bad for a while. SF's has been bad since last year. Blame the teams for not rebuilding it, not the NFL.

Seems the NFL has sold out, and is relying on the influx of the casual fan at the expense of the purists. Maybe they have to do this, with all the vaniallism of the game, due to the push for increased safety. Take away all the big hits and replace it with big numbers on the scoreboard. It's a bit nasueating watching guys like AD99 get held every play with no recourse to help inflate the score. I can't help but think AD may have gotten 20+ sacks a year had he played in 80's/90's.

You can thank Fantasy Football for all the changes to increase scoring. The NFL discovered a whole new slew of gamblers to increase interest in their sport.

Interesting little fact for you. Right now the NFL is on pace to have more sacks this year than last year yet supposedly you can't sack the QB. This is exactly what the NFL wants, more excitement in their opinions for the fans.

I much prefer football when it was football.
Some changes have been good. Most are over kill.
If a person cannot appreciate defense they are not a smart person and not a fan of the sport.

So unless somebody agrees with you they aren't a fan of the sport? Come on man everybody watches things for different reasons.

Not the way I would have said it LOL But I get your point. I encourage everybody to watch our own Cory Littleton play defense - focus on him for the whole game, he's a joy to watch, very cerebral player.

I just don't see how someone can be a fan and not appreciate half of the game.
It's like saying an NBA all star game is exciting.

I agree.
I said that is sort of a dicky way.
But, I've seen plenty of low scoring defensive struggles that were very tense and exciting games.

I dont think it's broken, but I do think it's like a road that's full of potholes that needs to be filled in, and then the road be recovered.

Some of the LSU/Alabama games circa 2011, 2012 were amazing.

That's the wonderful thing about football. You can have a shootout like against the shitbirds, or a slug fest like against the Jaguars last year. Both were highly entertaining.

I was thinking the same thing. If I wasn't a Rams fan, I have to admit. I would be losing interest in the in the NFL due to the way the game is played now.

I love defense. So in a sense part of the game that I like is changing for the worse, for me anyways. Officiating hasn't helped the cause either.

There isn't a better game in my memory than the Bucs @ Rams playoff.

That game had all the elements. Kept you on the edge of your seat.

Sadly the NFL thinks games like the Pats and KC is more entertaining.
