It isn't. We see every snap of every game. Joseph and Wells are clearly worse players than Barksdale. Sack stats don't tell the whole story. Don't even tell 25% of the story. Especially when you compare IOLs to OTs. Just not a fair comparison.
Joe has had some issues this year but he's a far better player on a per snap basis than Wells and Joseph.
You will certainly get no argument from me on your last sentence. I agree stats do not tell the whole story but it is one of the better ways to try to determine the play of the individual players. And yes by observing the actual play that certainly causes all of use to all see different things during each play from each player too. It can also be said that many time when the OT blocks fail they are assisted greatly by a RB, FB or a TE to save the day too, instances where a bad poor blocker is rescued from a sure sack. I think those stats are FAIR enough but not complete .....but when you say they are
Not a FAIR comparison ....I will not join with you in agreement on that statement.
Was it not you Jrry32 who here in this forum earlier this year claimed & argued that the responsibilities of the interior OL like Wells & Joseph were just as important as the exterior OT's? You claimed that most defenses were sending quick pass rushers & grouped speeders up the
interior of the OL as much or more than just outside. That the past emphasis of high value on the OLT & ORT's had diminished as offenses attacked the middle. Which I will agreed. (Thus why a DT like Aaron Donald has great value & great impact) If you have forgotten I can search for it.
You will never find or read anything from me stating that interior OL'ers Wells or Joseph were better or equal players to Barksdale period never happened. Those stats on Wells-Joseph & Barksdale were eye opening if you want them to be! MemphisRam post subject was on
those STATS . Yes both well seasoned long starters in the NFL (Wells & Joseph) must be replaced in our OL in 2015. The much younger Barksdale is in his first season as a starter, is totally different.
Claims that OT's are out-there by themselves all the time is a sure myth & a large one at that. To claim that a ORT responsibilities are more important the majority of the time to a OG or OC is incorrect......Anyone who takes time to read my posts
know I place a great need to having 3 solid OT's on a team as a
priority, so I do not undervalue Joe Barksdale's or a Jake Long's responsibilities.
Yes Shotty offense places great stress on our OT's in passing situations (that's why we did not see Mason the first half of this season) he has not changed since he arrived do not think he will change in the future so he best get himself a
trio of very good complete
OT's if he is planing to get more successful blocking from his OT's to prevent our future QB from more injuries. I can say that JB having Joseph playing next to him has caused more issues this season. But last season he had Shelley Smith, Harvey Dahl & Rodger Saffold beside him.
In conclusion I know that Joe Barksdale is
very popular here with most all members in this forum & its just about Taboo to say anything contrary to the popular belief that JB is a very good ORT in the NFL. .......I do not fall into that cadre who think that. JB is the best ORT we had in over a decade & sure happy he is a starting Ram on my team if JB was not here I have no ideal who could play ORT.
But he is far from a complete NFL ORT in the passing game (as those stats point out).
