Sure. For normal players. But we're talking AD, the most impressive physical specimen of his time. He's obviously in shape. He probably misses it to a degree. And he thoroughly enjoyed winning a Super Bowl. So who knows. I'm not gonna get my heart set on it but........
AD99 can be in tip top shape, but he will have to get reacquainted with being hit to reestablish true football shape. I am sure his wife, kids, and pets will weigh in on their druthers, but as I pointed out earlier, Matthew's wife and four girls want their very own Super Bowl rings. :trophy::fistbump1:

My guess, this is a conversation for after training camp or midseason and a push.

Doors open but no one's walking through it just yet or perhaps at all.

I would tell him to come back for 15 -20 snaps a game, and see where he is at physically. If he can come in and play key 3rd downs and be fresh for the 4th quarter to close out games, that would be fine.

I hope Donald stays retired. He was starting to slow a bit toward the end. I don't want a "Dream Team". Those teams always seem to crash and burn.

Uhhhhh really? A hard no? Lol

My guy if AD came back that would give this years Rams AT LEAST the opportunity at becoming the greatest Rams team ever assembled in franchise history…hell the ceiling could legitimately be a top 3-5 team in the history of the sport..

You wouldn’t at least want to see if they COULD become that?

This! This is why I want it.

We need story lines.
We need entertainment.
We need something we've never seen before.

If AD came back and was 80% of his former self, could they form the best DL of all time?
How about the best defense ever?

Never thought I’d see the day where any Rams fans give a hard no to a potential return for AARON DONALD..

That’s like Bulls fans saying they don’t want Jordan back after his first retirement..

That’s like Patriots fans giving a hard no if Brady said he wanted to return to New England..

It’s legit disrespectful to the history of the franchise LOL

In any other year, I'd dismiss the AD comeback talk immediately. Since retiring, he has been firm and consistent that he's done.

But this feels different.

I'm not suggesting the Rams are actively asking him to come back. In fact, AD has indicated in the past that there were inquiries after his retirement, and he remained firm in his decision. That's what makes this situation unique.

The Rams have assembled a roster that naturally creates the conversation on its own. They just added Garrett, retained Stafford, strengthened the secondary, and are clearly all-in for another run with the Super Bowl being played here.

What's also interesting is that former teammates and people who know AD best aren't exactly shooting the idea down (Brockers and Long). Instead of a hard "no," the reaction seems more like a shoulder shrug and a "maybe." That doesn't mean anything is happening, but it does make the conversation harder to dismiss.

I'm not saying AD is coming back. None of us know that.

What I am saying is that if there was ever a scenario capable of making a great player seriously consider one more run, this might be it. Pairing AD and Garrett on the same defensive line would be the kind of once-in-a-generation football moment people talk about for decades.

The greatest competitors are often tempted by the chance to make history, and this feels like one of those rare moments.

And honestly, even if it never happens, just being able to imagine that level of greatness is a first-world football dream. Shit, I'm dreaming about an undefeated season LOL. Not because it can't, but because it could.

This keeps eyes on the Rams, keeps the excitement going, and extends what has already been one of the most remarkable offseasons we have ever had.

GO RAMS!

Well, he's not going to play for free.
So, a late season signing, where the team can better absorb a prorated cap hit, instead of the whole thing, might work better.

I kinda agree with Orlovsky….if he does come back it probably won’t be until October, November. Give himself two-ish months to get his feet under him and into game shape for the playoff run.

He's not coming back, and he shouldn't. I don't see a Michael Jordan career renaissance. This is the NFL, not the NBA. He has nothing more to prove, he already has his Super Bowl ring.

I just don't see it, and I don't think he should come back, even if it's only for a year.

11/25 vs GB could be an ideal return date. It’s the 11th game, and we’re coming off a bye, and we’ve got a crazy schedule the rest of the way (GB, KC, SF, Dallas, Sea, TB, Sea).

Honestly, this tweet from Erica Donald kinda annoys me.

It's Aaron's decision. Let Aaron be the one to address the issue publicly, not Erica.

Not a big deal, but irritating.
If you see what its attached too, I get her response. I don't find it annoying at all. Not her fault people are blowing her up on social media asking about AD.
