In your Opinion....What is the center piece for all Teams?

Many have talked about this in other threads, but I wanted a general feel for what a lot of Ram fans view as the most important part of a team.....any team in the NFL.

My opinion is Offensive Line. Without a doubt I see this as a center piece for all teams. Throughout the history of the NFL, teams with a good offensive line Win! That doesn't mean you can't win with an average O line, but can we say we have ever seen a team with an Oline that sucked win often?

Every year we talk about General managers and coaches' abilities to build a team. How often do you see teams add pieces like WR, QB, RB and Defense in the offseason? (All of the time). The media covers that because its hot and teams know it sells tickets for a year.

I just don't get how you can not understand how important an Offensive line is. Yes a defense is important and so is a QB, but how many Good QBs, RBs and WRs can make a team good with a bad Oline? How many teams have we seen over the years who have had average QBs, RBs and WRs win because their Oline is good?

Remember the Ravens with that awesome Defense and Trent Dilfer at QB. No one talks about the fact they had a great Oline and average everything else on the offensive side. I don't care how good your Defense is, they can't score often enough to win a game every week.

Quarterback. Easily quarterback. If you don't have one, you're almost guaranteed not to win.

After that, it's probably the O-line. If you can't protect your quarterback, he can't attack the opposing offenses.

After that? Pass rushers, and it doesn't matter if it's on the D-line or the linebackers. Can't rush the quarterback of the opposing team? He'll likely beat you.

Then? Probably safety. If you have a great safety, you're definitely going places.

Cornerback, receivers (including tight ends), and running backs round out the list.

QB and having a good HC doesn't hurt. It's a shame that we don't, oh wait, we have both!

Center piece ?? Easy answer even for my one working brain cell.....QB, however he is only as good as his HC/OC & his entire OL. If you don't have a good smooth working OL your center piece will not be healthy very long. When your team invest most of your Cap Funds (like an average annual salary of $34 to $37 million a season) in that Center Piece you better have an OL that will permit that QB to fully function.

Take a look @ the Seahawks who have a great Championship QB & makes $35 million a season but his OL has been weak over the last half decade. Last time Seattle reached a Championship game was 2014. You would think that John Schneider & Pete Carroll would get a clue..... bunch of 's.

Owner. Everything starts at the top. Look at what's going in Miami. All falls on the owner.

First things first is a good Head Coach working with a good GM and Scouting department. If you have this then you can get the actual position centerpiece or pieces that play the game.

In building a team you build from the inside out. Both line play is your foundation. I would go for a solid offensive line first. That's because you need to protect your centerpiece which is the QB. No way around it the QB is the focal point of today's NFL. It's hard to win a championship with an average QB.
That has become more so with the rules changes that give the offense more advantages.

The Question is flawed.

Teams can have different centerpieces, or as you call it the "most important part" of a team.

There is not one common centerpiece that all teams have.

For some it is QB, or Coach or Oline or defense or scheme or philosophy.

It's really what makes the NFL interesting.

You can build around a top QB and win a super bowl or two.

You can also build around key defensive players and win a super bowl with a Trent Dilfer or Joe Flacco.

You can also have an organizational philosophy as a center piece such as the Steelers who have won multiple SB's.

Or the Billecheck cheating philosophy that has won multiple.

Or you can have an offensive philosophy such as the Walsh, Seifert, Holmgren tree which won multiple Super Bowls.

Building around a QB seems great but even Dan Marino would attest to the fact that it takes a team to win a Super Bowl, not just a QB.

Some may say FG kicker. Perhaps if the Bills had one they would have 4 Super Bowls.

And that's why we watch folks. There are many combinations of factors that can make one team better than another.

Coaches. Honnestly even with the talent the Rams had/have I dont think they have a 28-10 overall record since 2017 with lesser coaches.
