Yep. And it's even more satisfying because Thomas was focused more on throwing his whiny bitch fit in the middle of a play to try and get a flag than actually finding the football.
It all starts with Payton tbh. He fell a long fucking way from the Parcells tree (Bill P was one of the best at it) when it comes to working the refs. Belichick picked up that ability of quietly working those guys with comments and sarcasm, but Payton's too much of a bitch to use that approach so he's always had an us vs them mentality that isn't nearly as effective.
IMO that is one of the most underrated parts of being a head coach. Nobody really focuses on it but it's a skill you gotta master to have the full toolbox in that role.

It's a skill that McVay needs to work on.

I saw the title and said to myself
"What else is new"
I think McVay's goes something like this: You respect me as a coach, person, and leader, and my rep, and that translates to setting a level of unspoken expectation of you (the refs) being competent and fair, sort of the way players are expected to play a great game instead of talk one. (Not saying that will be ultimately affective, or that he doesn't need to develop something tho.) He probably believes in developing congenial relationships over time, too.
I’d love him on the Rams.
