I was watching the Cheatriots and Vikings game and that term GOAT came up. I told a buddy of mine that it's BS. I want to see Brady play when DBs could mug the receivers and D linemen could body slam the QB when sacking them. If he could be that successful under those conditions, I might agree. Instead we have rules made to protect guys like him and rule added in (after the Rams got robbed of SB 36) that you can't grab receivers after 5 years past the line of scrimmage.

We also have double standards where some QBs get hammered and nothing but someone breathes on Brady and the field is littered with yellow flags. He is a great QB but he's not GOAT in my book.

He sucks this year, but he is 41. But 8 Super Bowls in the salary cap era is pretty impressive. Hard to say he is not in most conversations as one of the greatest.

Eh, people are going to have their opinions.

Here, for the Word of the Day, there's this:

Buzkashi
Buzkashi, the name of Afghanistan's national sport, translates into something like "goat-grabbing." That's the object: Grab the headless, disemboweled animal carcass (sometimes a calf), circle the field and deliver it to the goal.

He can be in the conversation, but he is not the defacto "goat". If elway, morino, fouts manning or any number of QBs had the same situation as Brady, you would see at least the same production. He is among the greatest of all time.

All of them hard pretty good situations. Stable coaching, lots of weapons. Fact is Brady embraced the situation he was in and capitalized. Lots of great players get in good situations and fail. We hear the same crap about Goff, you know, system QB. So its unfair to say that about Brady.

Elway had T Davis, R Smith, Sharpe, McCaffrey
Marino, Duper/Clayton
Fouts Jefferson, Wes Chandler and Winslow.
Manning Harrison, Wayne, E James.

They all had great situations. Brady went to 8 SB with more inconsistent weapons. NE let everyone walk on him and he remained consistent.

I don't remember Elway, Marino, Fouts, Warner, Montana, Young...... ever being called out for cheating.

Only Mr. Brady. And I don't remember any of the coaches or teams for those other QB's ever being caught for cheating either.

Brady will never be the GOAT in my mind because of that.

Well... the whiners did cheat the salary cap. They got caught for it too. So it is perfectly acceptable to remove both Montana and Young from consideration as well. (y)

I think Brady is a puke.. for many different reasons.

But yeah the dude has scoreboard on super bowls and countless clutch performances.

So I may hate him but I can't deny him.

Warner is the GOAT so no digging there lol.

Point is lots of teams had various ways of cheating, shoot remember Lester Hayes and the stick um lol. Different age and different ways to get news and information which is why you dont hear about what happened back in the 80's. There was no internet.

As for deflategate, why not mention of Rodgers: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...e-limit/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.6f8c13774e4d

Brady ('the assfucker') has been to more super bowls and won more super bowls than any other QB. He's the GOAT...hands down!

Every year Brady went to or won a super bowl, his competition (other QBs) that same year played under the "same' rules regardless of what ever those rules happened to be. So, I think that takes away the "different era" argument.

I despise the Cheatriots and Brady because he is one, but it's hard for me to argue his place in the heirarchy of QBs...

I just noticed that this is post #12...I'm ashamed !!!

I think only Young was with the 49ers when that happened. But maybe I am losing my memory.

Thankfully, after setting the record for Super Bowl wins and breaking the all time and season yardage records, Goff will uniformly be called the GOAT and we won't have to listen to all this Brady nonsense anymore.

We're at the beginning of something super special and we'll have all the salt we need from sad Pats fans who will be relegated to the "different era" argument that they dismissed when talking about everyone from Marino to Johnny Unitas to Montana.

And it will be SUWHEEEEEET!!!!!

I think you're right about that... but... let's just put that joe guy in there too. Guilt by association.

I hate that bastard.

You mean like when the defender clearly went at Goff's legs yesterday? I don't see how Donald gets that called against him earlier this year when he was being blocked down but no call yesterday when the guy actually went at Goff's knees. Brady is an NFL darling. Just like any other good QB, when he gets pressured, his play shows it. Goff often has all day to throw and he does great with it. He also does great with pressure in his face. When it is constant though, he suffers just like all the "great ones". Frankly, Brady has enjoyed a clean pocket more than any QB I have ever seen. He's bound to succeed with that even without the favorable treatment I think we all see.

Brady has benefited from being a system quarterback more than any QB not named Montana. But, like Joe, it doesn't mean he isn't good. Brady has also benefited from having a good coach. He wouldn't have as many 4th quarter comebacks without Belicheat making the team do so much conditioning. The Patriots condition through running various drills more than any team in the league.

But , I don't mind him being called the Goat. I just always follow it with fucker in my mind when I hear it.

Not like NE has cheated.
-Filming opposing teams walk throughs...(see 2001 SB)
-Bugging visiting teams locker rooms (see Payton Manning for reference)
-Jamming communications between visiting teams and their QB/Defense captain. (see allegations from Lions and Steelers for reference)
-Infamously deflating footballs.
-Players feigning injury to stop visitors when they are moving the ball/stopping NE from moving the ball.
-Committing flagrant fouls (and not being called NFL=duplicitous) ....etc., etc., etc.,...…...
