Hunts numbers aren't really better than Hendersons in recent years.
Hunt is a much better HB than Henderson. Before he got into off the field trouble, he was a top 5 HB in the NFL. He's been stuck in Cleveland playing a #2 role (typically, third down work) behind a guy who is arguably the best HB in the NFL today (and inarguably top 3). Hunt is the sort of dude who thrives when you give him a lot of touches. He wears defenses down. He has looked good whenever Chubb has gone down and Cleveland has turned to him as their #1 HB.

The great thing about Hunt is he offers the exact skillset McVay loves. He's a dude who can carry it 20+ times while also being a quality blocker and pass catcher. True three-down HB. Unlike Henderson, the dude breaks tackles. When was the last time a Rams HB did something like this?

I think Higs got hurt early an an absolute cheap shot by that fucking dirtbag Ward...Higs was wrapped up and that asshole comes flying in and hits him right in the knees...Frisco can now go back to the mediocre team they are since they don't play us again in the regular season
What PiSSED me off.
#7 hitting Cooper Kupp when he got hurt.He had a wrapped up cast & went swing at kupp.

Classless

Higbee is hurt all the time.He had a stinger & went to the locker room.

I guess it depends how you view it.
Henderson is a serviceable back who McVay refuses to give carries to.
Henderson can certainly run a wheel route....in fact, is is at or near the tops in routes run by a RB in the league this year. Stafford rarely throws to him however.
How much are you willing to give up for a RB, that's the real question?

I mentioned this above. He came in and took TWO cheap shot punches at Kupp when he was on the ground in pain.

Every 9er should be banned from the league permanently. Seems fair and just.

When is the last time Henderson took over a game. Where he had a huge day, as in well over 100 yards rushing and controlled the pace. I cannot recall. They are few and far between at best. As poorly as Akers has been since his return he actually has some games where he took over and was rolling. I'm confident he has more of those than Henderson, who has been here a full year longer. This is why the hope with Akers wasn't so much about Akers as it was he was the only back who looked capable of maybe being the bell cow. Because Hendy certainly is not that.

And that is why Henderson is not comparable to Hunt. He has had every opportunity here with us, and is part of the reason McVay gives up on the run game instantly. Hunt is not going to look like Dickerson behind this line, but McVay can put him in space and he'll beat defenders and as the game goes on and the defense softens we'll have a ground game emerge. None of which you get with Hendy.

I honestly think fans have forgotten what a good back can do for an offense. This is the legacy of the shit we have had in this backfield for years now, since 30 retired.

Then he shouldn't even be on the roster. Let one of the two guys on the PS give it a shot. Our head coach who got his start as a TE coach has to be better at judging the positions talent than this. Point stand we have OL issues and we aren’t using the TE enough as help, Hoecht had two snaps. Preseason hero Carter still sitting on the PS even though his strength is supposedly blocking. We did good in the first have in pass protection and we’re better at run blocking than prior weeks though still not great.

Agreed...I have no idea why Rams kept guys like Kolone and Evans on the roster as well KNOWING they couldn't contribute if asked.

He doesn't get carries.
McVay is married to this concept of a committee back field.
An average back, a now below average back in Brown and a rookie or two. I find it inane.
Henderson is the best of what they have now, he should be getting the bulk of the carries. He is second or third in the league in routes run by a RB but rarely gets thrown to, although, he can be effective in that role. Maybe if Williams can get something going he can take over the role or split it.....try to get something going in the run game.

They didn't know.
Evans was ok at RT when he was forced into action....not great by any measure but ok. The Rams helped a lot by getting the ball out quickly to protect the QB. He was not given help at RT by TEs or RBs chipping....he was almost exclusively on an island.
But thats it.......and that was just ehh.
Inside he is total liability.
Kolone, Im sure, was not supposed to play this year.
There are limited resources.....money and picks....to devote to back up spots.
Aboushi was not terrible last week.
Hopefully he can continue to improve and stay playing when Shelton comes back. Edwards has been a disaster this year.

Yeah TE is part of the problem.

This team needs an offseason infusion of players who can block. Rams went cheap on the OL and it bit them. Boom I get it but right away that team friendly deal was felt in the dropoff and of course we don't know if he can do the job because availability. Bruss was unfortunate but your plan has to account for the rook needing time. A backup center at RG is not a plan that is oh shit we are into our depth now.

They can't draft the TE position for shit. That room is so ugly.

Bad roster will catch up with any coach. Even McVay.

So we have to get through this now with some grace. Which means go get a fucking RB. Balance the offense for this shit line. And then compete without squandering our 2nd round and 2024 1st round picks.
Amen! Like the wasted pick with Tutu Atwell!!!
