How? Only way we do is by signing him and then it becomes a moot point. Can we see him play one game with the starters for us, before we say he can't do it, just ONE???

Not a chance. If we take Simpson at 13 he is the back up. Book it. He's more then worthy of holding a clipboard.
Do you know any of these things to be backed by facts? They are probably fairly safe assumptions but we don’t know for sure if he wants more money and how much money that would mean. I mean, everyone wants more money than their last deal. He probably wants to start for someone but is that starting role something he really wants with the teams that might want him there? McSnead have only really say that they need to find Staffords eventual replacement. Not sure what Hollywood has come calling even means.A. He wants more money than the deal he got last year.
B. He's tired of sitting and wants to actually play and will wait for an injury.
C. McVay told him that they planned to select a QB and he realized he's not the succession plan.
D. Hollywood has come calling.
E. All of the above
My bad. I assumed everyone would understand that those were merely guesses since I don't work for the team or know they guy.Do you know any of these things to be backed by facts? Just that there are a shit load of assumptions being thrown around as if they’re facts. My bad. I assumed everyone would understand that those were merely guesses since I don't work for the team or know they guy.

You can probably remove this option. The FA market has spoken on his value. Jimmy's not stupid.B. He's tired of sitting and wants to actually play and will wait for an injury.

Wow, when I posted this I didn’t think it would go 12+ pages and honestly thought he would be signed by now.
Sounds like they are going to see if they can pick up another QB in the draft. Can’t see Bennett as QB2.Within this article, McVay says it's less likely than likely that Garoppolo returns.

Three paths the Rams could take to fill their need for a backup quarterback
How the Rams decide to fill their backup QB void could tell a lot about their future plans at the game's most important position.www.nytimes.com
“At this point, when there hasn’t been a decision, it feels less likely than likely,” McVay said of the possibility of Garoppolo returning. “But I don’t want to rule that out.”
Thanks for posting the quote. Many of us don't pay for the Athletic and wouldn't be able to read the article to get the info you mentioned. Cheers.Within this article, McVay says it's less likely than likely that Garoppolo returns.

Do you really see a QB in this draft that the Rams would have as QB2 behind Stafford?Sounds like they are going to see if they can pick up another QB in the draft. Can’t see Bennett as QB2.
His best chance to find a chance to start was at the beginning of FA. But the market spoke. Teams don't see him as a starter.EXPLAIN ?’
I cant read the Athletic article, but assuming its been like many of the interviews McVay has had recently on the topic, the absence of Stetson Bennett's name in QB discussions is quite telling.Do you really see a QB in this draft that the Rams would have as QB2 behind Stafford?
I can’t see that all. I’d imagine Bennett would be ahead of the rookie depth chart wise.
But imo, I’d expect neither - I’d expect some vet to come and fight Bennett for that spot. If JG doesn’t return.
In his last interview McVay's comments insinuated that he wants a vet in that role. So I agree it threw water on any idea of Bennett functioning in that role. And again I am fine with the backup losing games if Stafford misses significant time, because then we'll want a high pick. But my job isn't tied to performance on the field, so I get it.I cant read the Athletic article, but assuming its been like many of the interviews McVay has had recently on the topic, the absence of Stetson Bennett's name in QB discussions is quite telling.
I just dont see where they would put a rookie QB in the #2 spot, considering Stafford's participation will be (or should be) limited this off season.

Huh? I guess you're not reading the same articles I am.Telling?
Yes, it tells me that McVay doesn't want to give out any more info regarding QBs until the draft is over.
