Re: 2 pt conversion, it is hard for fans to say without knowing the specific assignment every player received, so that insight from McVay is telling. It looked like Forbes was supposed to have the TE, and just stood there watching for some reason. Really bizarre. He almost seemed to be unsure of if he should cover the TE or the RB, but given how Speights made a bee-line to the RB, it would appear Forbes was 100% on the TE. By the time he started running the balls was almost there. With his long arms it is a play he likely defends if he reacts instantly which is the name of the game on defence. Inexcusable as 2 timeouts were called back to back before that play was called. Nobody on either side of the football should have been confused. Check it out at 4:30ish if you heart can handle to re-watch.he said the punt return changed the game.
Also alluded to the 2pt conversion being a blown coverage.
Agreed. Loved McVay's attitude after this devastating game.Watch his presser.

Forbes had an elite stretch of play for a handful of weeks but has really regressed to the mean. He's a decent CB, but not the answer long-term to build around. Unfortunate, because it was looking like he might have been after getting him for free! In the end, we still need to address CB this off-season via the draft and/or free agency. No team is perfect in a salary cap world but I do think you want at least 1 great player at each level of the defence, and at least 1 true game changer on the DEF overall. Not sure the Rams do have anyone great in the secondary. Lake is on the cusp IMO. It was a bit surprising we didn't address CB last year. But I could see the logic behind it, with how the team played down the stretch at all 3 levels of the defence - and we do have 3 players in the secondary out with injury right now that the team was likely counting on to be suiting up in big games down the stretch (Spoon, Lake, McCreary). Inserting those 3 will be a pretty big makeover back there if they are all healthy for playoffs. But I'd be worried about game speed for them. And for McCreary, having no real reps in the system.
