Remember that huge fight the Rams and Jets got into in Dickersons rookie year. Bench clearer. One of the reasons the Rams O linemen hated Mark G so much, besides all the dancing over sacks, was that he shaved his arms and chest. Back then it was though of as unmanly and weird.
Times have changed.
I miss the era when guys played football, made a big play and went back to the huddle.
Its worth warching clips of that game at Shea in the dirt infield. For the fight and Dickersons long run when he is accelerating away from DBs that are supposed to be faster than him. Flailing like little kids and falling down. The fight is good too.
Some computer guy, post up a link.

from the comment section.

I think it was Jackie Slater who said, "If I danced after every time I successfully blocked him, I'd be too tired to play."

It's like when they had that fight in baseball and the pitcher ended that guy's career. @Memento will now what I'm talking about. I think he kicked a dude in the headed. They suspended him for 6 days or something, but the team had a deep bullpen so he only missed 1-2 games. NBD. But other guys who didn't end people careers got 3 game suspensions that were more impactful because it covered more real games.

Yeah, I definitely know what you're talking about. Johnny Cueto kicked Jason LaRue in the head with his cleats multiple times in a brawl in 2010, along with kicking Chris Carpenter in the back. He tried to justify it saying he was "scared and pinned against the wall", but Carpenter was also pinned up against the wall, and didn't use his cleats as a weapon.

Cueto should've had a year-long suspension, at least. Instead, MLB suspended him for six games - which meant that he only missed one start.

Why does this seem odd?

The cynic in me sees a sudden announcement and apology as a means to move on quickly... From that?

I guess so.

Thank you. I also should have clarified that I remember somebody else getting a suspension for a few games, but they weren't a pitcher and honestly have no clue how long it was but 3 games feels right. It also might have been from another incident around that time and the article I read was making a comparison. I apologize to everyone for presenting a vague recollection as facts without clarification.

I dunno. P&G is paying the NFL at least $10 mill a year for their products, including Gillette, to be the Official whatever of the NFL. If the NFL expects to continue to rake in lucrative endorsement deals, they need to keep their direct employees reined in. Rap went off the reservation and has to pay the price. Oh well.

In the end this is what it comes down to. Rap should have known what he could and couldn't endorse contractually or his agent should have.

Doesn't really have anything to do with that. It has everything to do with making money . . . which is always what this country as been about.
