@Mackeyser the first mistake you made was listening to Dieon Sanders. He said the same thing about the Cowboys and Saints. “There’s no way the Rams could win this game”

He’s very dismissive of this team. Maybe because he was a Cowboy and Niner. He’s a Jeter and tries to act like an authority. It’s hard to watch his show.

Well, considering his streak, I'm glad he picked the Pats...

Or the “NFL will steer the narrative toward the Brady-Brees matchup?”

Kidding...;)

Anyway, I agree with you, it should be a close game, hope the Rams come out on top. And soon enough, we’ll all forget whatever happened during the pregame hype...final score is all that matters...

Well, if the steering thing is true, it’s important to remember that it’s steering, not scripting. Seems the NFL has been lifting up the Saints for two years now.

Last year, that miracle catch seemed to undo a lot of “help” and Minny got past them. This year, a surprise non-call undid a whole lot of looking the other way. I mean, the amount of help the Saints got against Pitt is crazy.

I’ve never said that the NFL scripts things. However, I think that the reticence of the NFL to employ full time refs that train all year long and communicate with the teams on how calls will be made makes it easier to believe that there is subtle manipulation of games to fit a narrative.

I could be wrong.

There is nothing that brings a team together like an us against the world scenario. I just read that before Superbowl III Joe Namath predicted a win for the Jets over the overwhelming favored Colts, everyone thought he was nuts, well it turned out he was right.

Yup. A lot of talk about the Rams don't belong. I hope McVay is harping on this. All of this could play into the Rams favor.

Quite frankly, i have been listening to many that praise the Los Angeles Rams like Adam Schein for example along with Shannon Sharpe, however, IMO, many pundits predicted the demise of the Patriots. Those same pundits that are now talking them up, predicted the LA Chargers and Phillip Rivers would exorcise the demons and the game was not even close, then the following week, they predicted the Patriots would lose because they were on the road at Arrowhead and felt there was no way they could win that game and Brady sealed the deal.

So IMHO, they will not go against them. Troy Wingo stated that much, even though at the beginning of the year, he predicted the Rams would win the Super Bowl. Pundits have an agenda, most of their minds have never been soiled with an original thought and they are not going against the Machine three times in a row. That's fine, we don't have to listen to Tom Brady call his bunch, Underdogs and it gives the Rams every bit of ammunition they need, plus add in some of the talking heads are still conversing about the "No Call." and they are as clueless as Asshole Face.

In the end after the Rams defeat the Patriots, they would have defeated three stalwarts as franchises in Dallas, New Orleans and New England and to the victor belongs the spoils and the Los Angeles Rams are on the cusp of being the new darlings of the National Football League.

I've been watching a ton of media. Seems fairly balanced to me between Rams and Pats.

(easy) to believe that there is subtle manipulation of games to fit a narrative.

Yeah, Mac, as I say, I love your posts, but on this particular subject I disagree.

I think the greatest single allure of the NFL is its unpredictability. (And by extension, fans FAITH that the NFL is so.) How many times we have we seen a game where the outcome hangs on a razor’s edge? Where the momentum swings back and forth— often multiple times in just the last few minutes?

THAT, in my opinion, is the dopamine rush that gets fans “hooked.” The NFL would not do anything to pre-determine games and take away that “rush” of the unexpected. In my opinion, jeopardizing unpredictability by pre-determining games would be (a) extremely hard to do and (b) colossally stupid and (c) counter-productive from a financial standpoint.

If anything, the NFL might “steer” things toward parity. The NFL doesnt care so much WHO wins— as long as the games are close and packed with last-minute drama.

As always, just my opinion... we’ll never know the truth about the secret plotting that goes on.

I don't think you are. Keeping the human element is a perfect way to be able to fudge things. It's their built in fallback. Parity is another one. Any given team can win on against any other. There are no more sure things. However, I don't think it's necessary for stories and angles to be generated every year. Sometimes it works out either way. In other words, I don't think the NFL would have suffered with most any of this year's possibilities, i.e. another Foles miracle, the new Bears, Brees vs Brady, the young guns Goff and Mahomes, the redemption game Rams vs Pats.

I guess for national appeal, Saints vs KC wouldn't be great. I don't think having the Chargers in it would be either.

Take away the names. You have two healthy teams on a neutral field. One finished 13-3 (in the stronger conference) and the other was 11-5 (in the weaker one). Who is supposed to win?

Many people keep forgetting— the ratings for Super Bowls are remarkably stable. It doesn’t matter what teams are there, the TV ratings stay essentially the same. Again, part of my rationale for why the NFL wouldn’t have an incentive to fix games.

That nail's head is sore. I believe that is what happened in XXXVI although just the Cheatriots were told not the Rams. Couple that with spying and knowing the Rams red zone plays it was enough for the 17 point underdog to "win".

Well, Kay Adams knows that she’s labeled a Rams hater...brought it up this morning.

Claims she’s only advocating the opposing viewpoint for discussion.

She hates the Rams.

Does that mean she creeps on ROD???

If you're reading this, I LOVE YOU KAY!!!!

Death threats? Man what a bunch of losers
That's some truly stupid (intellectually stunted) shit. Yeah he committed the foul, but he didn't make the refs eat their flags. That's like when people get pissed at me because their elevator is broken. Bitch, I'm not the one breaking it. Quit mashing the fuckin' button 150 times in a row. It's plastic.

Pro tip for you all...
Pushing the button more than once doesn't make it arrive sooner. Stahp it.

Tell her to come see me. I can teach her to love the Rams again.
