I still can’t believe Sam Darnold won a Superbowl

Kupp winning with Seattle makes me FAR sicker than Darnold winning it.

I don't have a crystal ball. But I would say kupp was a huge reason why they won a SB. The dude has a way about him and teaches guys how to maximize their professional careers. Example. I don't think puka would be the player he is if kupp wasn't there.

Darnold said his job in the Superbowl was to not turn it over and let the defense win it. That sounds like a game manager to me.

We lost because of Smith's fumble and our bad secondary. Darnold is not elite. But our secondary made him look like it. It made others look like it too. Hopefully that problem has been addressed.

Darnold is solid Top 7-14 which is obviously good enough to win a Super Bowl. Just like fellow 7-14-ers Goff and Purdy almost won. Hurts, who won. Foles was lower but only played last 2 months. Dosent get FULL credit. Foles half a ring, Wentz half a ring.

IMO people are overrating Darnold because he was a high pick and he played for USC.
I haven't seen anyone overrating Darnold here. That's laughable at best.

I just felt the need to observe the dude deserves some cred for winning 14 games in Minnesota. That's not easy to do. So to see Minnesota undervalue that, and assume that anyone can do it to include their shit ass overrated first round draft pick from Michigan, is quite funny.

I was just going through my usual weekly Rams highlights, watching the new guys and I decided to finally rewatch the NFC championship. I’m am still in total shock that Sam Darnold has a ring. It actually might be the most bewildering thing to ever happen in the NFL. I truly do not understand how in the world this was ever able to take place.

I mean, look at this year by year stat line. How the fuck did he just randomly become good? None of it makes sense. I don’t think I’ll ever get over it.

Anyway, rant over. It just blows my mind.
I felt the same about Jim Plunkett. Dude was trash and forgotten until he went on a good team. You had to be there in the late 70s to see how bad he was.

Is there any way to delete a thread from my dashboard. Just seeing this thread grinds my gears.

Darnold lover!!!

the little rascals love GIF

Sam wasn't good enough for years. But to his credit he worked hard and elevated his game. And it makes me fuckin sick he won that title with Seattle.
I'm sick as well. The only time I like Darnold is when he is buried in the turf
by a pair of Horns. Anticipating several of those moments in 26

There are a couple of facts that have eased my pain and have me excited for
the 2026 Hawks - Rams games.

One - Our Dline had so many "almost sacks" with last years secondary.
Now ?? With our new and much improved secondary the DL Dogs are gonna eat !!
Also gonna free up Shula to dial up blitz packages that were undoable last year.

Two - Super Bowl QB's get paid SB money. Already seeing articles about a new deal.
Even if there is no new deal his cap hit is going from 13.4 to 37.9 million.
Just think hawks are going to have a hard time replacing the exodus of
talent lost in free agency.

The only thing that bothers me is we were the best team in the NFL the last 2 seasons and no rings to show for either.
That's a pretty big thing.

I agree. Opportunities like that don't come along very often; and should not be taken for granted.

The Rams had the Eagles in 2024, and the Seahawks in 2025 ... and ... both those Lombardi winners destroyed all their other playoff competition.

It comes down to winning close games. The Rams did it in 2021 vs. the Bucs, Niners and Bengals.

They also did it this past post-season against the Panthers and Bears.

I think it's important to also remember the close wins in big games, especially Elimination (Playoff) Games.
