Yeah I have learned to not have narrow expectations for a draft. Just so many ways it can go and you're not always gonna get what you want or expect.

But there are some guys I flat-out don't like there at 31. Tillery or Polite who I think carry far too much bust risk. Clelland Ferrell who I think is overrated. Sweat who is a 4-3 DE and has a medical concern. Not like I'm gonna freak out if they go that route of course but still I'll be irked.

And RB. As I said if they go RB at 31 I am gonna need a week off lol.

Just get an impact player that doesn't equal those things above. That's not asking too much is it? :D

My point being if they don’t trade back for value The Rams are in trouble. They have to trade back.
I don't know if I would phrase it that way. If the Rams trade back, aren't they trading away a more valuable pick for quantity of less valuable picks? I'm fine with them taking a player a #31; there will still be many valuable players to choose from.

I believe Rams will pick at R1.31 if a starter (possible openings at OG/NT-DT/EDGE/ILB ) drops to them. Rams will trade back if 0 starters are available - OR - multiple starters are available (making it worth the risk of a trade back and still picking up a starter).

I know they usually have a good idea what to do - But without the proper guidance from us at ROD, they might go astray
I didn't even realize what great ideas we had until McVay and Snead started working together. Man, we are good!

Ya, I use to spend a ton a time on draft day. Now I’m spending 1/2 the time researching (or over doing it). I too am in a very happen spot w/ Snead & McVay. The want high Q nerd studying players. Can’t say enough how much that just makes sense big picture wise.

I want a NT or OL that can step in and play on day 1. Adding a NT that can play 3 downs next to AD99 or a dynamic OG would be sweet. Though I firmly believe you can get the OG in RD 3 still.
So I kinda hope they stay use the 5th year option to pair w/ 99AD THEN USE a 5th to move up in RD 3 to draft said OG like a Nate Davis.

I agree on Tillery, Polite (as a first or second), and Ferrell. Sweat, I have to disagree. Even with the medical concern, we're talking about a potential top ten pick falling to us. And I firmly believe that Sweat can play the edge in a 3-4.

Agreed on DL Tillery. Not a high Q nerd in film room. We seem to be focusing on since McVay been brought on board

Don’t go to sleep on Chase Winovich, fellas.

He’s being underrated by the pundits. Trust me.

I think he would be a perfect Wade/McVay type player. A multiple year Pro Bowler in this D.

He reminds me of a Grant Wistrom type of player. Might not be the most athletic but his motor never quits until the whistle. We could do worse. But everything I hear about him says it would be a reach at 31 and he won't be there at 96. They'd likely have to trade down in the second to avoid reaching. I'd be fine with that if we could pick up another 3rd.

I'm sure Sweat is good enough to play edge for us and do it well. But would he be elite when he has to play in a bit more space? I suspect he'd be more of a Quinn type who will need to be rushing vice allowing Wade to mix things up.

As I reread my post though it is kind of funny in what a difference there are in some of those picks. Polite at 31 will raise my blood pressure for example. Whereas Sweat is more of a meh, we'll wait and see type deal.

But either way I'm going to get behind the Rams draft whatever they do. That's how I get the most enjoyment from it after all.

Agreed.

Scouting reports say “great hands”, which is always underrated on draft day.

Super-high motor and a refined technician, too. Stuff that can’t be measured at the Combine.

I’d be shocked if Winovich didn’t become a solid NFL player.
