I was just over examining member pictures, remembering posters that I have not seen since the decision of the move. I completely understand why they no longer come here anymore, because they felt (by and large) St Louis was disrespected by the process of the move to LA. But still, it's bittersweet to have the Rams back to LA and have lost posters and internet friends. Of course we have gained new fans in LA (and glad to have you!), but I also miss those who are gone. Even DCH, who still comes around with his new team logo makes me sad for the days when he was a raging Rams fan. Somethings can't be helped I guess and there is no going backwards, except remembering how it used to be...

If you have a drink in front of your computer screen, raise it, and sing to their memory...

Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and old lang syne?

CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

Auld Lang Syne, recorded by Scottish poet Robert Burns in 1788.

I post on two boards, here and the Herd, and both lost some good folks.

Maybe we will see some trickle back, they know they are always welcome.

I wont pretend to speak for all ST. Louis / Missouri fans but I can relate the experience I had at another board right before the move and during. The buzz and continuing refrain at that time directed at the local fans was. What you gonna do? Your gonna leave right? You wont be Rams fans anymore right? For me this was a real what the f moment. I have been a Ram fan my whole life. They were in LA when I started. So where they played wasn't a big deal to me. What was a big deal was that folks that were local were now some how tainted and here is the door. I always believed we are just all Rams fans and never understood the one is better than the other because of where they live. I guess my point is a lot of people got there hats handed to them. And it left a scar. Not on this site but at others.

Yeah Loyal, I can totally understand their not being here and I miss many of them.

I will admit that I am at times not too sympathetic as I stayed with the team through both moves.

But like I said, I understand. Some fans are more loyal to their city than the team itself. That's their choice to make. I hope for those fans, they will get another team and maybe we can talk smack on game day when we play their team.

I don't get why people in St. Louis feel disrespected.
1. The Rams were originally from LA
2. St. Louis has ALWAYS been a baseball town.
3. The attendance outside of when they were winning Super Bowls has always been LOUSY. I've never been to an NFL game where I could move down 12 rows to open seats.

That's like me getting upset the Dallas Stars went back to Minnesota.

If you really are a Cowboys fan then your post is even more offensive given my previous love of the Big Red and your TURD of a team owner complicity in the move of the Rams. But I will be civil in my erasing your ignorance of at least this St. Louis' fan perspective. Response to your points by number:

1. The Rams were originally from Cleveland, OH.

2. St. Louis has always offered the Rams a far superior deal in the past and at the end than LA ever has. It isn't even close. In addition St. Louis more than supported three major sports teams during the Rams St. Louis tenure. When the Rams were actually playing football and the baseball Cardinals and hockey Blues season overlapped in September and October the home games for the Rams and Blues never suffered. The best times in fact were when the seasons did overlap because the games were scheduled so people could attend the Rams game. And during a Blues or Cardinals game when the Rams were in a pivotal game there were constant updates of the Rams game on the scoreboard and any exceptional news was announced over the PA system and the cheers were deafening.

3. From the start the Rams had at least 11 straight seasons of true sell outs. That encompasses the first four forgettable seasons and only suffered once the front office became overtly pathologically dysfunctional with the locking out of Martz and the self described throat slashing Suleiman. Add playing like shit for the next decade then the support received is even more remarkable.

The Rams were always set up to make money first and foremost. When the stars aligned to allow them to win....... the fucked up front office would fuck it up fast. And they did. What should have been a dynasty is now nothing but head scratching trivia.

I know what you are saying but it'll be different. A lot of good posters went away and that sucks. It changed the vibe of the board here and at the Herd which are the two boards I post on.

I can't believe that came out of your mouth. Did you follow this whole thing at all? I lived in CLE when Modell fucked that town over royally and left that fanbase. What happened in STL was even worse than that. Way worse.

I grew up in Northern CA and my best friend was from St. Louis. He loved the Cardinals (football and baseball) then and still does.

We're fortunate to live in an age in which you can watch your team every week no matter where you live. The only Rams games I saw in the 70's and 80's were against the 49ers or playoff games...

I guess my point is: pick a team and stick with them - be a loyal fan.

I don't know, I can't see why people are mad at the organization. It was the city of St.Louis that couldn't keep the stadium first tier. Be mad at the city for agreeing to such a crazy clause and then not having the money to actually support it.

But I get not wanting to support a team that didn't want to be in your city. I do miss those posters that left though. They gave a lot to the board. From a location neutral fan, I just felt the anger was always a bit misplaced.

I sort of did too, with the exception of 1995. I was busy with work and pizzed at the NFL and the Rams. I lived in Portland, OR at the time and couldn't watch them anyway (out of market) and only had freakin AFC Seachicken games on TV. I couldn't be a fan of any team but the Rams, and so I started watching again in '96 or so. I really wasn't going for the merits of the move in the post, I just regret the bitterness the whole thing brought out.

I miss people too, in fact I miss a whole message board.
For 10 years RRF was my Facebook/Twitter/ESPN etc.
Since the move, the entire site is basically shut down.
I'm fortunate that I found places to go, but there are many, many folks I was in contact with a couple times a week that I will likely never hear from again.
Sad indeed

Yeah, it's sad that a fair bit of my fellow St. Louisans don't follow the team anymore. I had interesting conversations, enjoyed the time I spent with them, but ultimately, I'd rather spend time following the Rams and this awesome message board than be bitter at Kroenke or the city or the NFL or whomever else is responsible for the move. And I can gladly say that I've gotten to meet quite a few people whom I might not have met without the move happening.

What I'm trying to say is that most things happen for a reason. I'm not a believer in a higher power, but I do believe in fate. And my fate says that I'm a Rams fan then, now, forevermore, even in the afterlife.
