Unless there is humidity then it don't matter. 140's in Kuwait baked my ass buy prefer it to 90 degrees and 100% humidity Florida had. Humidity is the real killer. Still sucks no matter what. I hate heat!

(I won't be singing that tune in August, when humidity's in the 30's.)

I used to drive all over the place when I was a Tour Bus Driver in summer..Phoenix, Vegas, Death Valley...One trip used to end up in Phoenix, and it was damn hot...but I can say that if I went in the shade on the hottest day there, it felt immediately cooler (like 20 degrees cooler). I have lived in South East Texas and currently live in Kansas, where 97 degrees plus humidity is almost debilitating. Part of it is age, but I swear to God I never would have left SoCal if A/C didn't exist.

We get about 55 inches of rain a year here on average.

But no snow.

It is going to be freakin' hot, even by our standards. And it will continue being insanely hot, dangerously so, for a week or more.

The sad thing is I know there will be a tourist or two who will decide to take a hike up one of our mountains, with only a half liter of water, and will have to be med-evaced off it. Hopefully in time.

hottest day at 120 and its going to be partly cloudy? WTF?

Bonita is replacing the wooden walkways from the parking lots to the beach area with composite, I haven't been on the pier in Naples for a little while but will be this summer when family is visiting.

Stay safe!

Four people are dead in Arizona from the heat. Two hikers died Sunday in Pima County, Arizona, from heat-related illnesses, the Pima County Sheriff's Office said. A 28-year-old trainer died from heat exhaustion Sunday after mountain biking at the Phoenix Mountain Preserve, according to the Phoenix Fire Department. A man died of heat exposure after hiking the Superstition Mountains on Saturday, the Pinal County Sheriff said.

I almost hesitate to say this but frankly that was foolish in each case to do what they did under those conditions.

It's as good of an idea as sneaking up on a sleeping bear and poking him with a stick...........

Yeah this is the popular theory but what folks don't consider is that this kind of heat (dry 115+ type heat) will literally kill cars. They're a common sight here...like carcasses on the side of the road and freeway. Then consider that everything outside is too hot touch, including your car and everything in it. You can't leave anything in your car ever. Walking in a parking lot for even just 100 feet or so is like being in an oven and you can't breathe. Your kids can't play outside unless they're wet in a pool.

The dryer, extreme heat generally runs from June until mid-July. Then the monsoons come and it isn't a dry heat anymore(contrary to belief). The moisture builds up to the East (of Phoenix) all day long, and the humidity climbs....yet most of the time there is no pay off with rain. We usually get punched in the face with huge dust storms instead. Giant walls of dirt with humidity and 110+ degree heat.

Humans weren't meant to live in the Southwestern desert in summertime. Same thing as Antarctica...just different extremes.

I've spent some time in SW Missouri(lived there for 1 year) and Western Tennessee(have family there) during the summer and the 85-90 degree heat and extreme humidity is stifling...i get that, but you really haven't experienced an extreme summer unless you've lived in parts of Arizona, New Mexico, California and Nevada.

I've lived here 45 years. My kids are teenagers now. I'm gettin the fuck outta here soon. I want seasons and some weather variety.

I've been in a few of those dust storms.
Visiting Mom in Sun City, we're sitting at Grand, waiting to turn left on Bell, and looking south, I turned to Mari and said "Uh Oh", and we were in the storm for 5-10 minutes.

Hard to describe to someone who hasn't experienced it.

Actually went through one on the way to Reno - on a motorcycle. THAT is fucked up!

I lived in Vegas for almost 4 years back in the late 70's early 80's. It gets hot but its different with the low humidity. I was raised in Fresno Ca., moved back and it feels hotter in Fresno than Vegas did. 101 in Fresno feels like 113 in Vegas. 108 is tough. We get heat almost like the desert but not as dry. But when its 120, I don't care what the humidity is like. That is hot no matter how you look at it. And the overnight lows in Vegas are hotter than Fresno's. I didn't like that when my AC went out and I opened the windows at night.

I consider summers here in Austin TX to be pretty rough, but thank you guys in this thread for making me realize that it could be a lot worse.

I wish I could move to Arizona after I retire but I couldn't stand the summer. I need to move out of Cali but I don't kmow where. I love Cali but I hate it's political views. My dream would be to move back to Sinaloa Mexico but it's super hot over there and I don't mean the weather.
