NFL announces Bill Vinovich will referee the Super Bowl

Bill Vinovich is the referee for Super Bowl XLIX.

The NFL has announced today that Vinovich will lead the seven-man officiating crew, which also features Bill Schuster (umpire), Dana McKenzie (head linesman), Mark Perlman (line judge), Bob Waggoner (field judge), Tom Hill (side judge) and Terrence Miles (back judge).

Vinovich was the referee for the Patriots-Ravens divisional round game, which became controversial when Ravens coach John Harbaugh complained thatVinovich didn’t do a good enough job of informing his team about the Patriots’ declaration of an ordinarily eligible receiver as ineligible.

The officials who work the Super Bowl aren’t necessarily the ones who graded out as the best over the course of the season, but the NFL does require that they be rated at the top tier of their position and that they have at least five years of NFL experience, including at least one year of working the postseason.
Oh, huzzah. A ref who already has a rep for fudging things for the Patriots... but I guess it's silly to think any kind of fix could ever be in...

Do you have to filter the Chloramine out of your water in order to prevent killing of the yeast? If yes, what do you use - Vit C?
Our water district uses Chlorine - not Chloramine to treat the water. What minute amounts are in our water are largely driven off through heating of the water. In either case, Chlorine and Chloramine is more of a taste consideration than one that causes a yeast issue. In our case, there is not enough chlorine in the water to be noticeable even in our lighter low hop beers.

Interesting. You're lucky. The Chlorine/Ammonia mix (chloramine ) is nasty stuff, and has to be treated in order to make Sourdough bread, because it kills the yeast.

So have you done a basic water test to see if your water comes up positive for ammonia? We used to have a well at one of our houses that we found was getting ammonia because it was shallow and we were in a farming area. We had to get a fairly elaborate filter system to get rid of it. But what I found out was that the city water actually contained more as they were using chloramine to treat their water as well. I would think that maybe it is the ammonia that is killing your yeast. If not, I think your water dept. is over dosing on the Chloramine. There shouldn't be enough in your water to do that.
