@Memento If I could, I'd give you one pick in this draft, just to help make you happy.

I appreciate the offer...but the guy will probably get cut for a UDFA that I hate anyway, so what's the point?

The Mannion pick was the sucker punch of day 2. I liked the line picks but I think Austin Davis even has more upside than Mannion. Hard to say why we reached for him and passed up Petty or Hundley.

Now this is just my opinion but I think he was a very good pick with a lot of physically simular traits to that of Foles.....but his senior year he suffered from a lack of weapons and poor offensive line play.....but he was very good the 2 years prior. He has fine arm strength and touch....he needs to work on reading defense and working through progressions..... but to be truthful he has never had this big set wrs the rams have in quick and britt.....plus has the arm strength and touch needed to take advantage of Austin deep.......;)

Go Rams............. ;)

I agree that he suffered from poor talent around him last year. Perhaps that's why he looks like a deer in headlights in the pocket. He has the physical qualities that you look for in a QB but he suffers from lack of vision, atrocious footwork on his drops (plus constantly throwing off his back foot), and a wide, slow throwing motion. I look at him like a Camaro with a a golf cart engine.

I really do hope he translates but he has a lot of development ahead of him before then.

He's absolutely better. Arm & size & vision to use the entire field.
He will be able to actually run the offense. Definite upgrade over Davis.

Mannion has the size and arm but he leaves the rest to be desired. Don't forget that Davis has won games in the NFL running our offense. I'm not advocating that Davis is a great player but Mannion lacks too much. I'm not sure if it was poor coaching but his technique is in scary condition.

<shrug> who knows how this will turn out? I don't trust Fisher and im skeptical and that is based on the results and decision making over the last 3 seasons.

They think Gurley is special well he had better be given they already have a good group of young RBs. I'm sure I might feel better about the olinemen they chose if I had seen better performances out if the guys they drafted previously (Grob) and free agents Wells, Long, and yes Staffold.

There is no use really debating these players because the truth is its going to be up to the Rams coaches to develop them. They have to live with the choices.

It's time for Fisher to stop with all the bravado and over confidence and start winning some game

Period

Did you come over here from ramstalk? I find it disheartening that I've not seen 1 positive post from you since you joined. Grob wasn't horrible we all knew he was raw but has serious potential. Yet you make him sound like a scrub bust already.

Yea we've had issues with free agent oline players however looking at the bigger picture shows you that we tried to patch the oline with decent oline while the d was being fixed HOWEVER no one could predict their injuries or how they would turn out.

I see a great towering talent here....Nick Foles 6'6, Sean Mannion 6'6... When it comes to the size its a given this is great, but there is still other aspects that need to be evaluated to further the overall evaluation results.

I'm okay. They're not the picks I would have made, but I've learned many a time that just because I don't know who they are doesn't mean they're as bad as I think. Especially given I'm just some nutter sitting around armchair gming all day.

Also I grew weary of every year bitching, only for these players to be damn good and then look silly only to repeat the next year like I never learned anything.

I happen to think Davis is a dumpster fire. Once teams had tape on him he was done.
Difference of opinion.

Have to admit, the way it played out does feel very similar to Devaney/Spags imo

Is this a board where everyone is the same and agrees? If you'd like to engage me in a conversation you could have left the 1st paragraph off. You also misrepresent what I said about Grob. I said he didn't play to the level of expectations....that's is not the same as what you accuse me of. In any case I will ignore you moving forward as your comment to me was unnecessarily nasty and uncalled for.

No it is not a board that everyone agrees however it is a board where we don't constantly trash the coach's and players. As far as grob he played to exactly what was known of him a raw athletic talent that needed a lil time.

I'm so tired of negative people coming on this board and when someone calls them out they instantly go to the Oh is this the "homer" board or does everyone have to have the same opinion board stuff.

But a lot less than Petty (who I love) and Hundly.... at least that's how I feel but I respect your opinion. ....;)

crap I don't know anymore lol

You know, after hearing Fisher and Snead's reasoning for making the selection, perhaps I was too hard on the guy. I was not present at his pro day and it sounds like he cleaned up a lot of his mechanics and footwork. Given time behind a similar QB in Foles, I'd say anything could happen. Apparently he is a quick study too so that can't hurt.

So, 31 other teams, with paid professional scouting depts and GM's, chose not to draft Petty before the 4th round or Hundley before the 6th, but the Rams screwed up in not taking one of them instead of Mannion.(??)

Who knows how Mannion will work out, or where he may have been picked if the Rams hadn't taken him. But to whine about not taking Petty or Hundley instead when clearly nobody else that gets paid to do player evaluation thought they were good prospects is strange.

I really don't get some of the hate on here for this years draft, most people pre-draft wanted to 'fix the o-line' I think they've done the picks to do that. Some monster plough the furrow type guys. Gurley & Mason should benefit from their addition.

This year I did the ROD mock draft, with a number of others, and you know what, you look at more players than you'd normally do. I've been a fan of Mannion for a long time, even going as far as I think he's my favourite QB in this class. I can see his NFL QB potential, but I understand if you guys had your favourite. I'm not based in the US so don't really have any local boy hang ups. I really do think he has the potential to be the Ram of the future.

Havenstein and Brown are huge guys, team them with GRob and Saffold and Jones in the centre and we have there a huge tall wall of beef! The end of the draft we've done what everyone else wanted too - added depth, all across the team.

I remember Gruden and the guys on ESPN going on about Mannion and when he was going to be selected before the Rams took him. They sounded stunned that he was still there. I did not hear them say that about Petty or Hundley. When the Rams took Mannion, they all said they loved the pick. Just an observation....

Getting paid to evaluate doesn't mean you don't make mistakes in your evaluation. Mel Kiper Jr. Does it for a living and he thought a Jimmy Clausen was the greatest QB he had ever seen.

Mannion simply wasn't a third round value for me.

All I know is I'm praying he's the next third round equivalent to Russel Wilson! Lol
