Starting to feel it, Im just north of Orlando in Altamonte Springs. Last I heard the eye wall was 5 miles from Cape Canaveral. Got beer so we will make it.

I live in Altamonte Springs too.

Do you keep a generator handy ? You know, for important stuff like beer and recharging the computer & phone.

No generator. But I packed down 2 of my big Yeti coolers with a couple hundred pounds of ice. We got plenty of adult beverages... and ice. LOL

That crap ALWAYS happens at night too.
I went through a half dozen hurricanes down there, and always lost power at night.

It doesn't suck too bad right now... but if the power stays off for days like it has in past storms, well,,, that is when it gets so hot and suck doesn't begin to describe it.

Crossing fingers.

I hear you, Selassie, about when the suck begins...

No AC in Florida when the heat starts up with all that water around will mean 80s near 90 and humidity that will soften the toughest cut of meat and have it falling off the bone in no time flat. And not in a good way...

Stay safe and phase 2... praying for a quick restoration of power!!!

I just lost power. I guess Matthew has a reach two hours in from the coast.

My power has been off since about 9pm last night and I have yet to see the power company anywhere near us. It's weird how dark my neighborhood is with no lights. Most of our friends have power... just our luck.

I do have a big generator that powers my fish tank and my garage refrigerator.

After Wilma, we were out of power for 2 weeks. Our side of the street was the last to get power, and I had to watch people ACROSS THE STREET with their lights on for a week before FPL got around to us. For some reason they couldn't get us up. It would be up for an hour, then off for 2 days, then on for a couple hours, then off for 2 more days. Almost lost my damn mind. Hang in there, man. Lotta trucks on their way down there from NC and SC.

Power back on. I'm glad. I wasn't wanting to have to go to BWW Sunday to watch the game and eat fried chicken heads. Whew!

I think my brother and a few crews from Eversource Energy ( NorthEast Utilities) might be headed down from CT to help with the electricity situation.

Vero Beach lucked out in a couple of way with this storm. (1) .I didn't get all the rain that they were saying (8"). Only about 2 1/2" That was huge because when the eye was near us we were also starting high tide. (2) Speaking about the eye....It came within 38 miles of Vero Beach. That again was huge. For the fact the outer wall had the strongest winds (up to 130 mph) and I heard a report right before I lost power that the outer wall came within 10 miles of Vero. From what I remember we had winds above 70 mph for about 2 to 3 hrs. Someone said we had some guts around 100 mph. As far as the Backend of the storm as it headed north and the wind changed directions I don't know any #'s as I was without power (about 12 hrs. spend most of that time at work) and just watching it. But IF #1 & #2 (from above)came together it would have been a game changer WHEW.....................
