Yeah, Naples looks like the landing point. Sarasota, Bradenton, St Pete and Tampa are all directly in the path as Irma samples the flavors of the gulf coast of Florida.

Feel pretty confident about riding out the storm at my mom's.

Don't feel confident at all about my house. If it's still standing, the roof is intact and the windows aren't blown out, I'll be thrilled.

Good news is mom has fios so we'll have internet. Unfortunately freaking Florida hasn't figured out wind knocks down poles and buried the power lines. Makes me mad because a lot of the recovery struggles would be a lot easier with power.

Anyway, last day to prep is tomorrow, then storm hits Sunday.

Be well all. And please everyone try to check in on Monday if possible.

Was thinking about you dude. Did you get you and your fam the freak out of there or what?

The wife and I are riding this one out at home just like we always do. It's just us... my oldest is at his mom's here in Orlando, and the twins are up in Tallahassee at school.

We are stocked up and ready to party with no airconditioning for a few days. That's all you can do. I have a generator to keep my fish tank, refrigerators, and TV/DVD going.

Once she passes through... We'll be eating and drinking ourselves to sleep in the 150% humidity and 95 degree heat with no AC. Sound nice???... that's why we stay fucked up till the power comes back on.

Yeah... the extended power outages are the worst.

I've got a generator now. But it doesn't power the AC.

I think we are finally battened down now.

We just took our last hot showers.

I filled up a bathtub so we can flush toilets.

And I've got the AC cranked down to freezing.

Time to start drinking.

I had one too. Plus 100 gallons of fuel.
Then the fuel ran out 4 days later.
lol @ the idea of buying more fuel after that.

I've actually got 200 gallons of fuel in my boat that I will use if I have to... filled it up before I pulled it out of the water on Monday. I pray that I won't have to use it.

Finally got all the shutters up at my mom's house. Was a total bitch because some of them warped sitting in the garage. But I'm thankful that we had a drill and my youngest son was super helpful. We're stocked pretty well, have plenty of water for at least a week.

Great idea about cranking the AC.

Overheard from a relative walking their dog that FPL is likely to do staged power shutdowns since it seems it's easier to restore power than have things blow. Makes sense. Have no idea how long it will be out, but... we'll see.

We were lucky to be able to top off the gas tanks yesterday. We've done so much driving the last few days that we needed it. Got all my meds and we should be ready.

As ready as we could be.

I only have to take the hard drives out of my CPUs (the mac pros are too big to take with us) and pack them to take with us (that way we keep all of our data.

Be well and safe all. This is gonna be...something...

Might think about a small room AC unit when this is over ....that what we have done here with our smaller generators.

Appears you will be targeted here by Irma Mackeyser. Sanibel Island to your south is sure to be smushed just happens to be our favorite vacation spot.

Our friends in Naples are heading up my way. With our luck... the storm will hit us instead of Naples.

A friend left Ft Lauderdale and got a hotel NW of the lake. He checked in yesterday and we had a laugh because he was better off staying where he was and because me and his parents talked him into clearing out. Naples about to take a full frontal. Hope Les is outa there too!

Yeah, Les moved out of there.

So far we've been lucky and blessed.

Looks like it died down a little...LITTLE...when it hit landfall and made it more like Harvey. Which isn't exactly a good thing, but not end of days like some were predicting.

Good luck down there Florida.

At work tonight and we are starting to get 40mph gusts. Supposed to peak here by 8am. Sure hope my relief can get here before then. I'll be pissed if I'm stuck here and the family at the house. On my way to work tonight I saw three cars on I75 after 20 miles of travel. Feels like an episode of Walking Dead or something.
