prayers for everyone in the path.

As it’s a Cat 4, hopefully those in low lying areas will be able to evacuate.

Whatever you do, please have a plan and over communicate with friends and love ones.

MOD EDIT;

Hi everyone -

This seems like such a potentially bad storm, I’ve received a couple of messages asking if we can put it in the main forum (Rams/NFL Talk) to get feedback from those close to it.

In this case, it seems to make sense and we’ll make an exception for it.

Obviously we hope and pray for everyone’s safety. If you have any stories to share; your friends here would love to hear from you.

Just curious to how many of us ROD members are in the path?

We're in Myrtle Beach. Waiting to decide if we're leaving tomorrow morning.

Have been thru a few but this one is a weird one.

I second, if you have the means to there is no reason gambling with your life.

Yea. Most likely. Kids and grand kids went to Fla and Charlotte.

The problem is the damn looters that come in after the storm. Makes you want to stay.

Yeah, the world is filled with heartless assholes unfortunately. But still not worth your life.

Either way, good luck to you and your family. Be safe.

No second thoughts... if you are in potential danger just leave. Just ask anyone who stayed in NO during Katrina. Not worth ANY risk to you and your family, Brother. Take your valuables with you if you can.

In Myrtle Beach...definitely leave. Absolutely, definitely leave!

I wish the best to you and your family!

Edit: Downgraded to Cat 3, but the eye is now projected to hit Myrtle Beach dead center!

I'm about 30 miles east of Asheville. As of now, we're looking at ~8 inches of rain Sunday - Tuesday. We're already ~17 inches above normal for the year. But the rain pales in comparison to what you guys have coming. Leave, this one doesn't look pretty.

I gave you a "like" just saying thanks for sharing.

"Like" does seem wrong otherwise...

Be safe.

I agree with everyone else: leave town if Florence is in your path. It's not worth your life.

My thoughts go out to everyone affected by it.

Not to downgrade the seriousness of the situation here at all... but this is posted in my garage.

Be safe ROD Bruddas in the storm's path. If you're near the coast... get the hell out of there.

Hopefully you have a generator if you are in the area. The worst part of these storms many times is the fact that you lose power for days on end.

Below is a link to NOAA's data buoys and onshore weather recording stations.

Click on "Tropical Atlantic", shift the map, and zoom in on one of the yellow diamonds.

https://www.ndbc.noaa.gov

The closest data buoy is still +- 200 miles away from the storm and now showing 30 knot wind gusts with 20' waves so this 'Cane is packing a real punch.

https://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=41002

Only you know how sturdy your house is built and how susceptible it is to flooding.

The most recent forecasts have the storm weakening (good news) , but stalling out over the SC/NC coast(bad news),

Lasting power outages are a certainty.

Are you prepared for that? I relied upon a generator for two weeks following Matt and Irma.

Our prayers are with all you folks who are impacted by the 'cane and please remember the grueling aftermath of a 'Cane produces just as many, if not more, injuries and arrests.
