In other words, how many here are or were in the actual football business, as in playing (college level or higher), or coaching, scouting, analytics, etc (high school or higher) as opposed to just fans like me?

It freaks me out how many people have been to or knows NMSU intimately.

And yes Urlacher was a Lobo of course, our instate rival.
Were you there during the Hal Mumme Era?? They had a pretty good QB back then until Mumme had him throw 80 passes a game. Haha!!

Props to you man, D1 is D1 !!!!

I coached Little League baseball team when I was in HS with my buddy who was a much better athlete. I little story from back in the day. I think they were about 9 years old.

We drove a few players to the game in my buddy's 65 Chevy Nova. Unknown to us one kid found a full can of BUD on the floor of the back seat. The kid ends up at third base with bases loaded. He couldn't hold it any longer and pissed in his uniform pants while standing on third base.

No harm and no foul but, we all got a big laugh.

Wow! I’m impressed! Lol Most people don’t know of Hal Mumme!

No I played before his time there but talked with him a decent amount about a lot of subjects, current, future and past football related. Guy has forgotten more football than I’ll ever know! Very kind, gracious, and fun gentlemen to talk with!

I reffed 14 and under youth football last year and will be doing high school as well this year. This guy joins the hs zoom calls a couple times a year.

Both leagues are always looking for new officials. It's fun, great to work with youth and help them learn the game and discipline, great to give back to your community, and nice to have a little extra cash in your pocket.

If you're a vet MP hosts a scholarship program called from Battlefields to Ballfields where they cover your first year fixed expenses (registration + uniform package).

Wife's family is from out there too. Most of them still live there. Not a year goes by that we don't wait for hatch Chiles to finally arrive at our local market.
Mmmmm, the smell or roasting green chile permeating the fall air everywhere in Albuquerque. Street corners, shops, restaurants, back yards. :woozy2:

Go Lobos! :horns: (UNM 1996-99, plus I met my wife there)
You are about the same years as me! Thought I was one of the young bucks here. Lol

If you guys ever need a chile hookup let me know. Lived in Hatch/Mesilla valley 18 years or so.’

High School-Played the 4A Championship against Grant Wistroms HS Team....that was 2001 I believe.

Was recruited to play at South East Missouri State. But decided to fuck around for a year off school, then somehow joined the Navy. SEMO isnt a big school at all. But, its was something. Lol

I was not a good enough athlete to play college ball and I knew it. Lol

I may be the same years, but you’re probably younger. This was during my post-grad years in my mid 30s.

And thx for the offer but we have some friends who bring it back. There’s also a place in Riverside that brings in the green chiles and roasts them there. But I don’t eat as much now—sorta lost my tolerance over the years after moving back here. I really appreciate the offer though.

Cool. We lived outside Anthony, NM in Chamberino in the valley. Not far from Hatch/ Mesilla. Had a couple of acres of farm land and still do. Chilies/Cotten growing everywhere. Pecan orchards! I miss it.

Went to NMSU around 1993–’94. Someone mentioned that Ricky Proehl’s brother was attending school there. Not sure.

Thats a good area to have land in the Mesilla Valley! I love it down there, it’s so peaceful.

Never heard of Ricky Proehl brother going to school down there, that’s new news to me!

What kind of chili do you guys grow down there?

Man, all this green chile talk is killing me. When ofriend came out from ABQ last month , she brought us a bunch of Einstein’s green chile bagels and Frontier tortillas. We’re all out, and this talk ain’t helping.
