I will humbly disagree with your poor man's (but a little richer) conclusion of Matt Ryan.
My opinion of Jared Goff is not that of Matt Ryan. I heard those comparisons last year form Colin Cowherd and a some others. There might be a few traits or so and I realize those aren't a knock on JG.
For myself, Jared is his own unique entity and if I had to give comparisons, he's flashed some Joe Montana and Tom Brady type of traits over the last 13 months.
He should have been fired after he blew the nfc championship game against the seafucks. They were all over them then he shut up shop the entire second half. Begged them to come back which the little oompa loompa did. Then when they needed a score Rodgers waltzed them down the field to get the fg in the little time he had left. So dumb. Would have beat them by 40 if McCarthy let Rodgers play. I was actually shocked he wasn't fired after he butchered that game.

Goff is having a great year, better than Rogers. When I watch Goff I really don’t think of Rogers though. Seems to me whoever wrote this was manufacturing some connection between them other than the school they went to and I don’t really see that. Rogers is one of the greats of the game I guess it doesn’t hurt to be compared.

Goff is really just beginning to grow into his physical potential.
Rodgers practiced for 4 years before taking the field as a grown man, in peak shape, both mentally and physically, without much wear and tear.
I do see traits that remind me of Rogers, and have from the time I first time I watched him, because it stood out even then as kind of funny and quirky that the kid at Cal would have some hints of Rodgers in him.
Life can be unpredictable but also cyclical, sometimes so much so you kind of chuckle about it. I mean we know every fan of a QB needy team dreams of finding their own version of Aaron Rodgers, but it doesnt happen, so you are looking at the next QB class and you check a few out and then here is this one young QB, with a very Rodgers-esque ability to consistently throw absolute jaw droppers despite being under pressure or moving through traffic and off his base, The ball leaves his hand similarly, always just the right touch, feet moving all around while eyes deep, perfect bombs seem effortless and travel farther than the arm or motion would suggest... most of the rare package of attributes that make AR such a great passer are comparible.. What are the odds this kid would also be from Cal..?..but then you also think ~of course he is from Cal. ~ this is just the kind of unlikely coincidence that would happen in this goofy realm.
Im not saying I think Goff plays like Rodgers, nor do I think they look alike on the field, but I have recognized their similarities in passing talent since I first paid attention to Goff.
Lets not forget that Jared was a stud before he was a so-called "bust" and well before "McVays system made him."
He was picked #1 because he was that good and because he had the potential to be great.
I wonder if Goff had been picked in Rodgers exact situation, had to wait for multiple years just learning, practicing without getting hit, growing into his full physical peak, how would his game be different? Would his total comfort and confidence in the offense lead him to play differently than what we see today? Would he be more mobile?
I believe Goff would have also been great in that scenario and if Rodgers had been drafted by the 2016 Rams and played as a rookie, I bet he would look in over his head as a rookie too...

Ultimately down the line I believe Goff will prove to put up unreal stats.
He and Mcvay are just too perfect of a match.
However I Rodgers is still the best I have ever watched play the game. He's got the Montana cool, the lead em back Brady, the Gunslinger Favre, quick release Warner, and the athletic Young

I don't understand the desire to compare Rodgers and Goff beyond both being Cal alums.
If you look at their mechanics, Mahomes is much more similar to Rodgers. Both use hip explosion and varied arm angles to deliver passes.
Goff is closer to Brady as far as a more classical release which uses a back foot anchor and a more vertical, quick release.
The benefits of the hip explosion is tons of velocity as well as the ability to deliver the ball from odd angles which can help avoid linemen or create a non-standard trajectory.
The drawbacks of hip explosion can result in lack of touch and a lack of accuracy especially if thrown from a moving platform.
The benefits of a more standard high point release are better accuracy and more touch making the ball more catchable.

Goff continues to be fearless with inevitable contact, seems like high percentage of time when an opponent misses a sack by fractional time, JG is uncannily positively effected, usually delivering a strike to convert on 3rd down in LA territory + I like to think the quieter his feet are at impact the better chance he gets up to play the next down. The new QB safety narrative plays right to his strength. Guys have a hard time lighting up a stationary target.
Rodgers can shift and dodge inside the pocket as well as anyone in the league and like a pitcher, he delivers 3-4 different kinds of throws. Yes I'm claiming the dude gets intentional movement on some of his releases. I consider him the ace of the NFL.

Payton's a good one, Jared's probably not as cerebral as he was (who is) but might get close eventually under McVay's tutelage, and Jared's got a way better arm. Goff's college tape with his "hot feet" is definitely reminiscent, but he's probably a bit better than Payton was in pocket movement. Payton's deal was using his megamind to unload that thing quickly when protections broke down.
Agreed. Brady's also a guy who IMO is an example of determination making him great, he's got similar accuracy with Jared as well as his efficient pocket movement. Him going round 6 had a lot to do with physical ability (arm strength) but you can't measure heart. You also can't discount the impact of having a great coach and team around you year in and year out. I really think Brady's the best comparison for Jared, and I also think Jared has a stronger arm than the "Pistachio Ice Cream" spokesman.
