Very Lucky his Great Grandfather changed their surname to have an N instead of an L.
Timing is vital here. 90's years ago it may have worked well (for a while) but in today's environment has a name with the L instead did the N would cause him serious problems. "What's in a Name"?

Just loved this draft so much. When a team is good and has an established culture, it changes everything - players are almost automatically going to be their best selves with us. We could start Dakota Allen at ILB for the entire season and still win 10-12 games because of how many good players we have. That helps rookies grow and develop so much.

Liked, but don't love, this draft overall.

I trust and respect the brain trust, and have no doubt they know better than I, but it sure seems like they tried to get a bit cute a few times. Not quite to the degree Fisher did - where he always seemed to be trying to show he was the smartest guy in the draft room - but still a little too cute for me.

I think they should have found a way to grab some more inside linebacker and edge rush help. Mack Wilson was there for the grabbing, and even Coney from Notre Dame, who went undrafted, could have been helpful.

Again, having so said, I do like seven out of the eight we got, even if I may have went a different way with some if of the picks.

Rapp is a really high-floor, sure-tackling safety - borderline plug and play. I think I liked Addersley more, but not by much.

Henderson sounds better now that I've heard more about their expected role for him. It's hard to remove him from the disappointment in having to select a running back, and the presumed statement this makes about Gurley. But, on his own, in a Kamara-type role, I like him.

Evans and Edwards are both guys that looked better in 2017 than 2018 - position change and shoulder injury as the reasons/excuses. The industry draft rags (Lindy's and Athlon's) both liked them quite a bit, and I have faith in Kromer ... So, I'll trust them. They don't both have to hit to make this draft successful from an OL perspective, but it would be nice if they did.

Long sounds like a scout's dream. And the Rams love short shuttle numbers. His measurables have him closer to fourth or fifth round overall, but the people in the know have him higher than that, so again, I'll trust them.

I know everyone seems to love Gaines here, but he just seems to have been overdrafted by about a round. I'm sure they had info someone else was coming for him, but grabbing Mack Wilson here would have stirred me better, and then still getting Gaines later with the draft choice they gave up would have been so much better. Having so said, he looks like the will clog up the middle on the first two downs, so I'll take it.

As for Scott and Allen ... I get that they like them both. Can't help by feeling a WR like Hall and a line backer like Coney wouldn't have been better picks. Hopefully they'll pan out, but I think they'll have to really stand out on teams to even make the roster at all.

Still, I'll give this draft a 'B'. But that's largely based on trust in the head office for scouting talent. I could definitely see a more objective party going lower than that.

Only knock is that he probably comes out on 3rd downs, where we'll probably see AD / Brockers / JFM.

Honestly I am not sure I'd limit him to being a 2 down nose. He has good short area burst in traffic and also has great vision even when he's doubled up where a ball carrier squirting through a gap he's moving that way. This is a guy who gave an impressive Senior Bowl OL class all they could handle too. I don't doubt that he'll need a blow now and then but outside that basic rotation requirement he's going to see third down IMO and he and Donald are going to do just fine.

In any other draft we don't get that dude where we got him. This draft just happened to have guys like Wren & Saunders that pushed him down. I bought a Kupp jersey when we drafted him and this dude is going to be my next jersey the minute I know what his number is. :D

I rarely try to grade drafts until I see them play. I am very intrigued by our new safety and CB though.

I really liked this draft. It did a lot of what I felt they'd do. Grabbed a safety, two actually but the 2nd one is depth and ST. Drafted a CB that I really liked. Went for some OLine depth that wasn't a center showing they like Allen and count on Blythe to be his backup. I didn't feel we'd put resources into ILB or Edge. And I absolutely love the run stuffing NT. Kind of surprised they didn't take a chance on a QB but the player they wanted may not have been there or was taken before they were willing to grab him. Overall very impressed with the team and this draft follows their MO. Draft for next year and coach guys up. If you get production their rookie year then it's a bonus. But these guys will need to be ready next year. Just like Noteboom, Allen, Kiser and I think Obo as well from last years class.

I believe the first trade down was good for the Rams since there were apparently no must haves from their board still available. There was also good value in that trade down. While we picked up a top safety with the R2.61 pick it seems we actually lost a little trade value on the 2nd and 3rd trade downs. It also feels like Rapp fell to the Rams vs the Rams engineering their draft to pick him. I trust Snead and McVay but not sure I understood those 2 trade downs.

They wanted Henderson. But also wanted a good player from their 1st round pick. They didn't have enough capital to trade up for Henderson without losing most of their picks this year so they traded down from 31. When they had enough ammunition to trade up for Henderson without screwing up their plan for the later rounds they stopped trading down from 31.

The fact they still got a player at the end of the 2nd that nobody would have blinked if they took him at 31 and ended up with two much higher 3rd round picks speaks well of their plan. Plus mcvay got his rb that he's supposedly been looking for since he took the rams job.

I'm not gonna complain about how they went about their business even if the players don't work out because they had a solid plan.

I will give the Rams an A+ for the positions they picked and how they prioritized and stacked their draft board.

We might have to wait a couple years to tell if they picked the right players by the players/draft picks production.

Yet, this incredible group of Scouts and Coaches also should receive an A+ for their ability to find talent and develop it.
