Akers has shown flashes, but he seems to start slow a lot plus he gets nicked up a lot. Would this conversation be different if Akers gets hurt as usual and Cooks is still available? I think this depends on how the Rams do win wise in this scenario. Ultimately I think Cooks is better than Cam, but the cost is the problem. This is why I doubt we go after Cooks.

I feel like Akers' problems last year were way more a product of coaching issues and a discombobulated season for the team, overall, than him.

I think he's the guy who played the last 6 games of the season and am banking on that. I see a 1200 yard season coming.

Cook would be wise to take the 1 year deal in order to possibly land that last shot at the green carrot
Age 28 season, coming off shoulder surgery?? Good luck with that

I'd like to think that but he was been slightly more durable than Hendo and that's not saying much. I just don't think he'll make it through a season unscathed.

Am I misremembering? I don’t remember him being hurt last year?

He was used quite a bit less so that could have contributed to him being healthier for the year. However one year vs all the other years where he always missed games isn't an indicator he's durable. When he actually plays a whole year and doesn't get nicked up, then I'll consider him more durable than I do now. I get he plays a position that typically has more injuries which is why i think he won't play every game and our recent RB injury history is also a reason we have drafted running backs in back to back drafts that can fill in temporarily for him.

You sound like Akers has been around forever, it's been 3 years, '20,'21, and '22, and he played one game in '21. Damn tough crowd.

I'm not really trying to dog the guy but he plays a position that takes a lot of punishment. I think he'll miss a couple of games from being nicked up cuz he has been nicked up a lot with just one major injury. I also mentioned earlier that he starts off slow every year so far which is another reason why I don't think he'll go over 1200 yds in a year. I do think he can break 1000 yards personally though. All the hits add up which is why most teams keep drafting RBs including the Rams.

The overall odds of an RB getting dinged up is a fair-enough reason to cast some doubt, imo. I'm just not sure that he's any more injury-vulnerable than most other RBs.
12-hundred yards is only 70 a game.. and I think with a line more focused on the run game and a commitment to it.. he'll be putting up numbers.

Him going over 1200 yards would have put him in the top 5 in rushing yards last year. It would also mean he plays every game which I just dont see happening although I'd be stoked if he did. I don't view Akers as a top 5 back at all. Also, as we all have witnessed, McVay also seems to have games where ge gets away from the run game so that may work against Akers as well.

aside from Akers, I really am looking forward to seeing Evans carry the rock, like his running style

Yes, i look forward to that as well. I think McVay will probably rotate him in the offense if he shows well in camp to minimize the punishment Akers takes.

I think the Oline redesign previews a new commitment to running.
And I look forward to Evans like you guys.
