Hendo had a big jump, coming from playing against low level competition in college to the NFL.
He flashed well last year at times, he just needed more opportunities.
Just like most backs he needed enough touches to get into a groove.

Thought Akers was running much better than week 1. If he doesn't get injured, I think he would have
broke out.
When Hendo was running I kept saying " he just needs one big run" and I feel the same about Cam
Young backs like those two just need that one big run to give them the confidence to say
" hey I can play in this league". Then you start seeing those attributes they showed on the college tapes.

He looked like he belonged out there. Like the way he wrapped up the ball when anticipating contact. Nice adjustment in the 4th q pass from JG16. I think if he caught it in stride it was 6. But he got the TD next play anyway.

I love Waldman's analysis, he's one of my favorites. By the way on that play he shows if Hendy had made a cutback at this moment below (or a beat earlier) he would have had one safety to beat to take it to the house. Cutbacks and having that feel for when to make them is huge for a zone scheme.

i can't agree with that. the lber is already through the block and would have gobbled up henderson. plus another couple of big dudes are coming from the left.

My point being, (as I quote myself) is that I don't think we could have a stable of horses like we do now at running back if other teams didn't start devaluing the running back position in the draft.
Akers is a first-round talent in the 80s or 90s. but we were able to get him in the second round and Henderson in the third.

I knew he could do it. Can't wait to see more. As I repeatedly said he is explosive. McVay needs to get him the ball in both the running and passing game. Defenses are now aware of his ability and will have to be concerned with where he lines up. Lbers will have a difficult covering him.

Another efficient, explosive game for Darrell Henderson Jr.
After logging 21 total touches against the Bills on Sunday, running back Darrell Henderson Jr. experienced a soreness he hadn't felt since high school.
"Woo," Henderson said with a smile during a video conference with reporters Monday morning. "I couldn't even get up out of the bed this morning."
The fatigue is understandable, as Henderson – for the second-straight week – provided the Rams offense with yet another explosive and efficient performance: 20 carries for 114 yards and one rushing touchdown, also adding a six-yard reception. It marked his first 100-yard rushing performance of his NFL career.
"It started up front," Henderson said. "Those other 10 guys do their jobs, so I had to do my job too. They do a good job providing me opportunities to showcase my skills, so big shoutout to them."
Henderson has been the Rams' leading rusher in back-to-back games, also surpassing 100 yards from scrimmage in both. His personal milestone on Sunday is arguably more impressive considering how adept the Bills had been at stopping the run.
Buffalo entered Sunday's game with the No. 3 run defense in the NFL, holding opponents to 75.5 rushing yards per game and without a 100-yard rusher through the first two weeks of the season.
Moreover, five of Henderson's 20 rushing attempts went for at least 12 yards – two for that distance and three for 14. Comparatively, the Bills' run defense had previously surrendered just three double-digit runs to one running back – the Dolphins' Myles Gaskin in Week 2 – and four collectively to opposing running backs. Gaskins' teammate, Matt Breida, accounted for the fourth in Week 2.
"Our O-line played really well and gave (Henderson) some big holes," Rams quarterback Jared Goff said postgame. "And he's a good runner. He's a really good runner. Runs downhill, he's obviously super fast, sees it well. He really fits what we do up front and has done a great job these last two weeks. Excited about his progression."
Heading into Week 4, Henderson has – statistically – emerged as the Rams' leading rusher with 201 rushing yards on 35 attempts, averaging nearly six yards per carry. Of those 201 rushing yards, 195 have come in the last two weeks.
"He made a lot of plays, he's going to continue to make a lot of plays," McVay said. "Very, very pleased with Darrell over the last couple weeks."
Of course, all of that production means nothing to Henderson if the team doesn't achieve its desired result. He would've preferred a historic comeback victory by the Rams over a personal milestone and a loss.
"I'm not really big on stats, so I was just going out there doing what I was supposed to be doing," Henderson said. "After the game, I found out I had over 100, but I was still upset about the game. I wanted the win."
Fortunately for Henderson, this Sunday's 1:05 p.m. home game against the Giants will give him a chance to build on the last two weeks and the Rams the opportunity to get back on track.
