I don't understand the Rams wanting to stay with their gap and a half scheme when they aren't getting pressure and that is becoming a huge issue. I don't think people understand what I'm talking about. When you play this gap and a half technique you need two edges with speed and power. They got one. If they want to continue with that they need to play Donald at 5T, with Turner at 4T, Young at wide 9, and Brown or Murchison at 0T and play with a WIL.
The reason being is that one and a half gap has the DE and DT aligned in the B gaps and pressing the OG's inside to reduce the A gaps. This along with the read/react is why there is no pressure and penetration because it's not designed for that. Also the reason I keep saying they need a WIL is because the DE is supposed to push the weakside OG to constrict that A gap. So that leaves the weak side vulnerable to runs and QB scrambles. They need to play a WIL to control that and to set the edge on that side. This is why people complaining Hoecht was getting outflanked don't understand he's pinching inside like he's supposed to do to constrict that weakside A gap. When they had Miller and Floyd they both played a wide 9 to eliminate the need and the Rams played a lot of 5 man fronts. That's why they played Robinson at DE to push that LG inside. So when Hoecht is getting outflanked that's on Raheem. Either get the NT to know that the LG won't be pushed blocked to the right into the A gap on that side and play Hoecht wide 9 or go to a one gap penetration style front.
Regardless Raheem needs to do a better job because the holes he's left in the defense is what is costing the games.
