There's at least one reason for that....

In the state of Victoria, where Melbourne is, it’s illegal to resell a ticket to a major sports or entertainment event — the government designates these “declared events” — for more than 10% above the price at which it was purchased.

 
The NFL is a monster and it's gonna take over the world. A massively entertaining product that's going international.

I gotta say I'm a bit amused by some fans who threaten to stop watching due to various reasons (concerns about referee quality, or about "rigging," or new rules that water down the physicality.) News flash: the NFL doesn't care if a couple people express their dissatisfaction. (Most of those people are addicted to the product and aren't really gonna quit, anyway.)

NFL is entering a whole new phase. In another few years it will have truly global appeal.

I've been to Australia when I was in the Navy. We stopped by for a week, and it was one of the best weeks I've ever lived. The women. The beaches. I did some snorkeling. And the people were just really cool.
