Better yet, I would have taken Barkley #1 and offered the Giants a nice haul to move up two spots to pick up Mayfield so the Jets did't get him.

Doubtful. Any team trying to trade up should have been asking Cleveland. And since everybody knew Buffalo was going to try to trade up, it would be stupid for any team looking for a trade to at least ask them for an offer. Which of course means that the reason Cleveland didn't trade down is that they weren't actually looking to do so - unless some team approached them and floored them with a massive overpay.

So you're telling me you know that Buffalo contacted Cleveland about the price of the #4 pick even though they didn't need to acquire it.

When it comes to selecting a QB, I’m not taking anyone’s leftovers.

If they liked Mayfield the most, they had to pick him.

I am so glad we weren’t in this QB market. Each has their flaws, and while I don’t expect it, feels possible they were all overdrafted (speaking of the first rounders).

So you're telling me you know that Buffalo contacted Cleveland about the price of the #4 pick even though they didn't need to acquire it.

I'm saying that they didn't somehow know miraculously that they were guaranteed to get their guy at #7, so since they were willing to pay more than normal market value to get up there, and it was widely rumored that Cleveland was looking for a trade partner, it would have been very stupid for them to not at least contact Cleveland and see if their offer of #11 plus 2 2nds would be enough. You are welcome to believe that Buffalo wanted Allen but not enough to check with everybody who might have a pick to trade for him. Even though it's common to check with multiple teams when you are willing to overpay to get a draft slot.

Well if they let it known they were taken Barkley they would have plenty of options either way. To take your free picks or more for the 2nd pick and then they can trade down from there or take a top player the value at #4.

Part of this also is your team knowing or grabbing info out there who the giants are leaning towards and using salesmanship on the phone to convince the trade.

At least that’s how I imagine a decent GM like Dorsey being.
